The one I posted is the 9e. Pretty much the same but a few minor cosmetic changes and only comes with one mag instead of two.

Oh ok. I'm familiar. Probably the best bang for the buck out of all the striker fired polymers IMO. Did you get a Fifteen round mag with it?

Shot this one today after some impromptu solo wheeling.

It came with a 17 round mag :D. Finally got a chance to fire some rounds off this past weekend. Nice shooting gun with a decent feel to it. Shot through a box of 50 rounds to try and get it broken in. I'll probably shoot through another 50 pretty soon.

From what I have gleaned over the years, buy 500 rnds and go through it in a day. Your done breaking it in then.

500 rnds is pretty much the optimal amount for break in IMO.

Running 500 rounds in one day could be a day full of fun for sure. That sounds like a good day to sit back by the grill and set some targets up.

Be careful out there guys! Check your firearms & check them again!

I had a malfunction yesterday and shot myself in the lower leg. Passed through the back of my calf. No arteries, no bone, or nerves. Strictly a flesh wound. Thank the good Lord.

Though it wasn't really my fault.. Accidents still happen & mine could have been a lot worse.

The gun was a Rock Island Arms Tactical 1911 in 9mm.. It will be at a certified & licensed gunsmith tomorrow to diagnose the problem. We will then contact Armscor & work out anymore details as far as compensation etc. The gun is brand new so had to be a manufacturers defect. The hammer will lock back 9/10 then on the 10th it will just fall..

    going to be fun!
Here is what one poster said on another 1911 site

Default 1911 rock island armory, (armscor) pistol misfire problem?
Yesterday at Harris Park, my wife and I were shooting having fun, and I was breaking in my still somewhat new(less than 500 rounds down range) 1911 RIA, GI out and working. After emptying a magazine, I put another in and released the slide to reload and start firing. But as I released the slide it fired spontaneously, it was pointed towards the ground as usual and fired unexpectedly. I did NOT have any digit on the trigger. My wife confirmed that also with me. Has ANYONE have this happen to them with a RIA or any other make. I am very concerned about this. It can obviously be a dangerous situation/weapon when ever I have to reload. Any one???? The ammo was, BTW in the sun but in it's OEM box. Steel case TULA 45ACP 230gr FMJ. Thanks for any ideas or advice. This is my second RIA 45 1911 GI. Otherwise its been a no problem, no issue piece. I like it!!! but this freaks me AND my wife a bit.

    Holstered or in your hand?
Tight or loose grip (enough to depress the grip safety)
    Manual safety on or off?

It was holstered so it was naturally pointed in the direction of my leg.

It was hornady critical defense.. But the bullet didn't expand. You could stick 3 fingers in the entry wound but maybe one in the exit.

Manual safety won't engage until the hammer is pulled back.. I had just pulled the hammer to put the safety on and it failed.
