    I thought, going out on an uneducated limb again, that 4.88s were better suited for bigger tires than 33s?

    A very debated discussion in the off road venue. I have run more 4.88 on 33's than anything I have driven and love the pairing.
    In fact, the LC I just sold Username I installed Yukon 4.88s and when I serviced the rear a couple of months ago, they looked brand new.
    I do not think his penchant for flying through the air has anything to do with it.

    So many variables. But, why is a very important question to answer. Otherwise, it is going to continue to stress the ring.

    No. Just depends on what RPM you want to run at high speeds. I run about 2700 rpm at 75 mph and I'm fine with that.

    While the dunes may be the cause of it, I don't think the jumps are. I'm good at letting off the throttle before I land. Hell I usually let off before I even leave the ground.

    I'm guessing that somewhere along the way, whether in the rocks, sand or snow; I shockloaded those 3 teeth but not enough to destroy them on the spot and they finally went right after we left Culvers...

    That or there was a weak spot in the ring gear and it finally gave:notsure:
