I'm surprised it would be illegal where it's within a marriage. So how legal was it when I was a teen and had my parents buy rifles for me?

Doesn't matter if your married or not, either one could be prohibited from possessing a firearm. Just cause one person is legal does not make the other spouse legal. Main thing is you are not of age yet and having someone else go and buy it for you is illegal! Same as if it was alcohol.

Now every state is different as fare as possession legally you might be able to possess a handgun between 18-20 for lawful purpose in your state. I would check this under state statues!!! some require you to be 21 to buy and 21 to possess.

If they are buying rifles for you as a gift that's different. Assuming you lived under their house and supervision with permission. However again state laws need to be looked at. some states allow you to possess a rifle from 16-17 for lawful purpose "hunting and too and from the range" this also changes when your on private property sometimes. I can only relate to CO and NEB as those are the two states I have lived in.

I been down the same road as you as I been shooting since I was 16 and got into competitive shooting. I have read every law and statue in my area figuring out what I could do. It has changed quite a bit since I was a teen what you need to look at is FEDERAL LAW, STATE LAW, Local County laws. In that order!

    http://smartgunlaws.org/minimum-age-to-purchase-possess-firearms-policy-summary/

Here is a article about this a little, its a year old but helps explain it.

    This is most current: http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-laws/idaho.aspx

Just helping you out so you understand the risk!

Awesome, thanks for all the info! So how do I go about registering all the guns I have in my possession that were bought through private sale?

This where you will find current law.

If you look under the NRA website it states Idaho has no state requirement for registration! However check the ^ above link for current law! It may require just a Bill of sale or record of transfer in writing some states its just a shake of hand and you are done.

If you're a first timer they'll give you free shipping on your first order. That's what I just did. Of course, I would have gotten free shipping anyway because 500 rounds of reman'd .45 was $156.

Scored a new bird gun for Christmas. Franchi Instinct L 20g. I wish it wasn't so cold outside.

How cold is it out? I'm good to go down to around -10 as long as the wind isn't blowing to bad.
Your moving so much and putting out so much exurtion that you should be fine if you layer properly.

Plus, you have a new gun. Get out there.

Currently 13 with a little breeze but not too bad. Its not bad now, but this morning was -12. I'm not a big fan of anything below 0.
