Last Friday on our way on a vacation with my in laws in town a 2007 Ford full sized van rear ended me at about 25 MPH. I'll attach some pictures to show the damage the first initial write up was $6,600 which is including some frame work.

I will say something about the frames on this trucks which sucks, which is the very back of the frame has about a 6" section that bends very easily because that is the crash impact zone. Its meant to bend its meant to take impact which is good for you but your truck will get frame damaged. Because the van hit my tow hitch which is directly connected to the frame it bent at 25 MPH when hit by a larger vehicle.

Right now the truck is being repaired at the Toyota collision center that I bought it at which i'm sure it will come out very nice but it will loose a lot of its value. Geico which is the guys insurance who hit me is covering the damages but Geico wants to put CAPA rear tail lamp and a CAPA front bumper on which i'm not crazy about but CAPA is good parts.

Once the repairs are completed I have already contacted a appraisal company that will appraise the truck's value and then I will file for a diminished value check.

The truck is brand new, capa parts are not factory toyota quality. I would fight that since it is not your fault you should get Oem parts. And also the frames are made to fold in order to absorb the impact of another car, instead of your body taking it and causing injuries. Metal can be straightened or replaced. Bones much less so.

capa are not good parts. they are cheap chinese knock offs with a "capa certified" stamp that adds a little to the price of the part.

insurance companies up here make us use them but at least in canada toyota has a price match program where the dealer can 9 times out of 10 match the capa price and give you oem parts. i would ask about that. the program is called collision link.

We have collision link in us as well. In Pennsylvania and Maryland at least. And a lot of dealers will price match as well. The techs would rather use oem at a lot of places because fitting them is much easier than capa.

Left both Toyota and my adjuster an email requesting both to work with each other and get some price matching going on. Its really only a difference between $89 for two parts.

I would agree with the other guy. Its your vehicle and you decide on the parts and demand oem. I would contact your agent and tell them your concerns, thats what they are for to protect you and your rights.

An car with a significant amount of damage will loose value, dealerships will low ball the vehicle it you bring it in for a trade your best bet is to private sale. Also, it has frame damage and when anyone now a days see's frame damage they freak. 40% of buyers won't purchase a car that has been a accident and 81% of all buyers will low ball the buyer once they have found out it was in an accident.

Even though all the work is being completed by Certified Toyota of San Diego collision center.

The truck is fine the frame damage is nothing but even with all the paper work no one cares they see the flags and run. My truck is going to look brand new just as good as it was when it was hit but no one cares these days because the general population to be fare doesn't understand how things are fixed these days.

Wuttt? The last time I had to file claim, my agent was more interested in protecting their pockets and their rights than mine.

Hearsay. If this were true than shouldn't there be restitution for future value?
Insurance covers the indemnification of value of property and personal loss.
Point being, there should no loss in value.
