Exactly. I'm 6'2" and I have no clue what I was thinking buying a 5 spd regular cab. But even my friends double cab I had to have the seat all the back which made the back seats useless for passengers. It does suck though, I don't need a truck that can tow a million billion pounds up a fire covered corkscrew. I just need a truck where I can occasionally throw stuff in the bed and maybe tow a small trailer around. Also, Tacomas kick ass on trails and are perfect size. I use to take my 1980 K10 on trails and what a pain in the ass. This truck is perfect size for that and other than cramped can space, it's perfect for what I need.

I understand this and am not saying you're wrong. But it would be nice if they had just a little more leg room. Everything else about the truck is fine with me and doesn't effect the height of a person. It just sucks that when you're a taller person, you're pretty much forced to get something that you don't really want or need just to be comfortable. I really don't feel as though I am tall. I know the "average" is 5'9" but I find that hard to believe. What if roles were reversed, what would everyone's response be? What if Tacomas were designed for people that are over 6' in height and if you want a smaller truck then you should have bought Truck X that is a lot more money but oh well, you shouldn't be short.

Cons for me owning a full size:
Suck to drive/park in a city
    MPG
    Don't fit in garage
    Too big for off-roading
I'll never need the hp/tq they come standard with
Cheapest 4x4 Tundra $42,000/ Cheapest 4x4 Tacoma $28,000 (Paid $20,000 for mine but it was a RC which aren't offered anymore)

Don't get me wrong, I love the Tacoma and am just speaking for us tall guys. Rant over...

They should have just updated the first gen and kept them the same size.

I think it's the dashboard/steering wheel set up in the 2nd gens. I have my steering wheel up all the way and have to wedge myself into the truck. My friend has my same setup only in a first gen and I fit in his just fine.

You're probably right. I was actually looking at AC when I bought this one but The price difference just put it more than I was really willing to pay each month, and now I regret being a cheap ass. I figured I'd stay in this for two years the get some equity in it then buy a 3rd gen AC assuming they're worth it. If not I'll get a used 2nd Gen.

I was driving a '94 Hilux while stationed overseas in the mid-90s, several years before smaller crew cabs were available in the states. Ironically, as small as they were you could still fit four Americans in them without getting anyone cramped. When the first gen-1 Tacoma crew cabs became available, I hesitated buying it because I could pay cash for the Corolla. I still regret that decision, but the Corolla has held up amazingly.

Now that I'm ready to pass that Corolla on to my son (I swear, it'll last forever) I can finally get the truck I wanted to get way back when. Tacoma crew cab. C'mon, 2016 model. Don't let me down!

I won't buy anything newer than a 1st gen Tacoma or 3rd gen 4Runner. I prefer the smaller size.

The lease on my 2014 will be up in 2017 so I will have to wait till then. I'll most likely either get a Tacoma or Tundra again. I like my Toyota's .

It looks like any truck to me. I wont pick apart the details on looks. Toss some black paint on it and I'm happy with any truck.

But without a drastically new drivetrain, or an upgrade in everything from heated mirrors to a sunroof I don't see a reason to upgrade my 2012. Other then the fact I've been hearing alot of hate from friends cramming in the back on my access cab lately lol. But I could still trade up for a 2015 double cab if needed for a better deal.

Honestly man, I don't understand the "first year problems". It seems to me like the Tacoma suffers from the same complaints from 2005-2015 or "common characteristics of the vehicle" as Toyota like to call them. I doubt you have much to worry about with the 2016 model. It appears to share the basic core anatomy with the 2nd gen trucks, only some new sheet metal and maybe a new engine/tranny. So, I think you are good to go with a new one and should not fear this "new" generation of Tacoma. Of course all the details are not out on it yet so only time will tell if there are truly drastic changes.... Knowing Toyota, I highly doubt it. After ten years, I had hoped for more but I doubt Toyota has answered my wishes.
Anyways, I may consider this "new" truck once they are released and can take it for a thorough test drive. HOPEFULLY is has a bit more room in the rear seats for the double cab. A 15' wouldn't be a bad idea but I cannot stand the downshifting in the current automatic transmission.

Wait...I thought that is the reason we are driving Toyota's? My 1st was an 84' 4Runner which was trouble free and I eventually sold with 245k on the speedometer. Fast forward 30 years later and several other Yota's I've owned to my current 12' Taco and I haven't had any real issues with any of them. If I didn't just install my RCD lift and new rims/tires, I'd buy one. If the 2016 comes with a 4-cyl turbo diesel like the HiLux, my Taco will be sold!:D

I love my '13 and have a few more plans for it, but if life hits and the AC just isn't practical any longer, I'll probably end up with one of these in DCSB form. I don't see any easy way to do the ARB w/o having a filler piece like they did in 2012+. That being said, I don't mind it that much.

Hopefully the sunroof isn't a Limited only option. That's going to be a requirement for the next one.
