Well, it's installed. That wasn't bad at all. It went slow due to the Big Boss Lady assigning me random chores throughout the day. That, and the fact that the Dog expects attention and walks EVERY day...

Apparently, it's not acceptable to mess around in the garage all evening on New Year's Eve.... I'll test drive the truck tomorrow.

I started to take pictures for a write up, but gear oil, bearing grease, and up and down on the creeper put an end to that. With the threads already on the forum, and the instructions that come with the No-Slip, it's pretty simple though.

What a tease! I know the feeling though, I also spent all day in the garage. But get this, all I got done was 3 spark plugs... needed to go to the store for a torque wrench. Doing driver side tomorrow

That's funny. I have plugs sitting on the work bench as well. I was going to do that today too. And, remove the TRD Sport bedside decals and dealer badge. At least I won't be bored tomorrow. :D

I'm running studded snow tires right now. You'd just see two lines of scratched up asphalt. :D

Actually, if one were into doing donuts, a locker would be just what they would want.

So, HHG; was the install really that easy? Drain fluid, yank wheels and tires, drop drive shaft, unbolt third member, pull axles out enough to clear, third on bench. Caps off remove ring gear, right then and there install locker per instructions, install in reverse order?

It's pretty much that simple. If you don't already know, Just make sure you mark the drive shaft and ring gear to make sure they go back in the same spot. I also marked the carrier.

The ring gear has to be hammered off and then back on. I just used a dead blow hammer and worked my way around and around.

The trick is getting the ring gear back on and lined up with the bolt holes. I got it in one shot, but wasn't expecting to... The line that I made with a paint pen primo to removal helped with that part.

One other trick I used, was getting the axle to the right height and pulling the third out onto a milk crate. This kept me from having to rest it on my chest while the remaining gear oil in the housing drained onto me. I Also used the crate to reinstall the third. Worked like a charm.

a locker makes doughnuts and drifts a god damn cake walk! No one tire fires, no half slipping of a lsd.... both spinning at the same rate for hoonigan fun.

I drove the truck around 20 miles or so today. The locker works as expected on the road. You can hear and feel it lock and unlock. I haven't heard or felt anything crazy yet though. No loud bangs or jerkiness. Just a small clunk as it locks and unlocks.

When it's really noticeable, is turning sharp under power ( of course). For instance, turning right out of my drive. We live on a hill, so turning right and up hill, you have to be under power. No way around that. The locker locks and I can hear the studded tire dragging on the way out.

It behaves pretty much as expected. The quirks don't bother me at all. The instructions do say at there is a 50 mile break in person. Maybe it'll smooth out some in

I should add, you should NOT attempt this project without this specialty too.

The ultra crate, thanks for some narrative, what makes you call it pathetic?
No Detroit Locker for sure, but it's still a locker. I think it's strong enough for everything but compitition, but haven't run one or know anybody that has. This isn't your daily driver is it? Off road hard?
