After owning Fords for 30 years I could not handle the repair bills any longer.

50% this, loved this cool truck since I saw BTTF, even though I was 2 in 1985. Glad I'm not the only one that gets hard when I see it. lol. But the other 50% is needing a truck than can handle off road/dirt trails for my work. Also I'm 5'8" so I didnt want a ladder to get in a truck, Tacomas are the best money can buy for Mid-size trucks, and generally reliable. Simple.

I have wanted one for several years, when the time came that's what I went with.
I traded in an 1998 F150 with over 200,000 miles on it.

I bought a DCLB because I still need to haul four people, tubas, trash, and materials and equipment. I owned 6 Crew Cab Dakotas that I drove over 150,00 each...but they are no longer made. Ranger, Colorado, Frontier will not fill the bill. I do not need a full size train. Tacoma was the only choice.

Started off with an old 87 pickup. Like a fool got rid of it and had a couple of cars for a few years. Wanted a truck so I got a 2001 DC Pre-Runner. Wrecked it and got a 2002 DC 4x4. Built it up (dual lockers, lift, f/r bumbers, skids, etc) and drove it until for some DUMB reason decided I didn't need it anymore (kids came along and no more time to go wheeling). Gave it to my dad in 09 and drove a camry until last year. When the camry started having problems I decided it was time to get back into a truck and I got my '14 DC 4x4. No matter what I do, I am not going to get rid of this truck. That is a mistake I will no repeat! :)

My 11 yr old POS Dakota was about to make me spend a lot of money on repairs and I wanted a truck that would last. So far so good.

Well, I just got tired of working on Chevy's
However, with weak leaf springs, rusted frame, piece of shit tailgate, and an increasing pile of recall letters, I don't think I made a good decision with my 05 Tacoma.

Always wanted one from 16 when I worked as a lot kid at a Toyota Dealership.
Almost bought on in 2004, but was just out of reach price wise so bought my short box Chev. When the Chev hit 9years I wanted to have more interior space but didn't want a giant truck for city living.
DCSB fit the bill. Was never sold on the 2004+ all silver dashes, and didn't know they had toned down the interior. Was sold on the manual transmission (way more fun than a autobox) and Tacoma was pretty much the only truck you can get a 6spd.
    No regrets.
Happy to have the truck I"ve always wanted since a kid.

GM is still a long ways ahead on recall notices. In fact they issued a couple more today.

After trying to buy a Ford and getting frustrated as hell at about 6 different salesmen at three different dealerships, then trying RAM and not getting a call-back as promised I went on the search for something different.
To back track a little, I wanted 6 passenger seating and all the little gizmos in a modern vehicle. The 4" display in the Ford was insulting, it's center front seat stupidly far forward, and to get any decent options you lost the center seat. Ram was a little better, but I don't want a Fiat. GMC's center front seat is like setting on a board, and my dad would shoot me for buying a "Chevy". So screw the 6 passenger thought, don't need it that often anyway; that opened up a whole new world of options.
I really like the look of the Tacoma, had fallen in love with a 4runner but needed a 6' bed to haul bicycles and gear for 4 people....and look this one has a fancy radio/nav, and is 4x4, ...never had one of those before :)
I don't feel like I'm driving my living room couch anymore (coming from a 2000 Dodge RAM Quad Cab) and get 4.5mpg better fuel mileage!

Do your kids a favor and change the tires - dry rot happens.

    Safety...safety first, then teamwork.

I bought a house and realized I was going to have to rent a truck once a month or just buy one. Mustangs aren't very good for hauling mulch and furniture. I will never keep a daily driver outside again, and a full size wouldn't fit in the garage. After I decided on a mid-size truck, there was no contest - Tacoma all the way. After a month of researching 2 year old trucks that were selling at 85 to 90% of sticker, I just bought a new one.

I had been looking at Tacomas for 11+ years - finally making enough $$ to afford what I want. Then, after a LOT of looking, I FINALLY found what I wanted - 2015 DCSB SR5 4x4 - bought it the day I found it. Planning on keeping it until the wheels fall off.

Not a fan of the full size trucks (WAY too big) - didn't want the Colorado / Canyon (too new, and even though they are making headway, just not a fan of Guv'mt Motors) - and couldn't do another Frontier (been there done that not doing it again)
