5100's w/ Eibach springs

So after a ton of reading on here I think this is the leveling lift that I am going with.

From all I can gather these are the springs that are on the Toytec coil-overs.

I have read that with an aftermarket spring you should keep the 5100's @ "0", but the Toytec coilovers are preloading these springs so I see no difference?

Setting the 5100's @ 0" and these springs give 1.6" of lift

Setting the 5100"s @ .85" should give me approx 2.4" of lift

I am I on the right track here, anyone else preloading the Eibach springs with 5100's? Seems that this would be a way to build a coilover very similar to the Toytec on the cheap, with less adjustability.

so does this mean, i got the silver eibach springs, that when i put my 5100 in this and set my collars to no lift im gonna have 1.6" of lift?

woaw not what i was hoping for

leads me to another quick question also, iv never had coilovers that a computer didnt adjust for me. for no lift the collars are cranked all the way down im assuming

 

Yes the way I understand it the eibach springs will give 1.6" of lift with the Stock billy, or the 5100 @ 0" setting

 

so im gonna have a 5.6" lift with my spindles

thats more than i was hoping for. i still have my stock springs maybe ill just use those with the 5100's

 

SoI talked to Eibach and they said no problem with putting a bit of preload w/ the 5100's @ .85".

He said they are a progressive spring so preloading will change the ride a bit, but not that much at this setting.

No different than the springs on any adjustable coil-over.

 

progressive? i believe OME and stock are lineiar (sp) for a reason.

 

Eibach told me the spring they sell for the Tacoma is progressive.

I believe the OEM spring in the TRD is progressive as well. The spring rate increases when they are loaded.

I 've seen them online for as low as $127.00

I was able to get them up here in Alberta for $152.00 from a local supplier.

 

So, summarize what you are going with

 

so i got my eibach springs and my 5100 billys. the ring is on the 2.5 on the billys. i put my collars on the shocks, then put the springs just to see what they looked like.

on the collars the adjustable part was all the way down and the billys were set at 2.5".

i was able to screw the top plate on the assembly without a spring compressor...
thats doesnt seem right does it?

 

no no no, you dont want the c-clip at the 2.5 setting.....you want one of the lower 2 settings. with the higher rate and that much preload you could bust the shock.

on second hand run it at 2.5 for a while and give us an update.

 

Ill post a picture up soon also, but if that's the case what do I need to put between the springs and the top plate in order close that huge gap that I would have?

should that screw on the top just go right on? i dont think so i thought that the spring needed to be compressed in order to get that top screw on.

 

i wanna run these at no lift so idk how high the collar needs to go up, maybe thats the problem??
