Not sure if its been discussed in here at all. But who here has a telescope? I just got a 10" dobsonian and been pretty amazed at what you can see with a relatively small telescope. I think my favorite thing to look at is the Orion Nebula. and Andromeda galaxy.

You should try to get into photographing what you see through the telescope. There's some really cool pictures from people with a fairly simple set ups.

Just got a camera as a gift and Im messing with it to get it as clear as possible. Alot more to it than it seems. Dobsonians are hard to get photographs with. and equatorial mounts are expensive especially for a big 10" newtonian telescope.

I use my 100mm spotter on a Bogen tri, more than my 144mm reflector Meade gps drove setup. Took the Meade out in the deep mojave and set it up one year. Crystal clear viewing,,there. Has to be dark, pitch black for the reflector to focus good. I swing the scope with the gps drives to the viewing spot,,then fine focus in with the spotter.

Hilarious when one of the kids input something on the bottom side of the planet,,the gps drives dumbly swings the scope down pointing at the ground,,so you can peer thru mother earth to see your home planet!.:)

    Haha thats awesome

I never really realized how big of a role light pollution played until I went camping in some more remote places. The night sky looks completely different when it's actually dark.

I'm pretty sure they've touched down on water already. But then it falls over, falls apart, and sinks. The platform is intended to keep it upright.
