I would love an interior leak.

Not a leaky interior, mind you.

The 2016 will be better no doubt. They have had 10 years to make it better. Naturally some people will be opposed to the looks while others will love it. The Tacoma gets redone so infrequently that people have gotten really used to what they think a Tacoma should look like.
I can't wait to hear all the negative comments on message boards but then see sales spike. Toyota knows what they're doing.

This i believe. I didn't like the '05 when it first came out, but then I bought one 6 months later.

    Showing my age here:

I remember as a teenager when everyone was clamoring for General Motors (specifically Pontiac and Chevrolet), to change the body styles on the 70's series Firebird and Camaro. Those cars had the same basic body from 70 1/2 to 1981. That's roughly nine and a half years of the same thing except for front and rear changes throughout the years. Meanwhile, performance from '75 to '77 was horrid and it wasn't until '78 did things start to change mechanically. Just when performance crept up again, they totally revised the cars that to this day became "Knight Riders" overnight.

I liked the fact that the cars were always distinguishable from the hordes of other cars that were offered back in those days. Similarly, the Tacoma has been a stoic and dependable offering for all these years, and change isn't always necessarily better. The 2016 Tacoma may look different (more SUV-like) and perform slightly better, but from what I have learned....old wine is always better than new wine. Nowadays, those early GM pony cars are few and far between, and the most sought-after of that product run of the 70's. Funny how automotive things repeat themselves.

If the body style and powertrain differ vastly from the current offering, how long before aftermarket products, and TRD for that matter; can catch up and design new fun stuff for those here who are considering the purchase of the newest Taco?

Using the failure of GM, specifically Pontiac to make the case for stale products as the way to go, is a LESSON that does not have a good ending. They did the same thing with the Corvette from 1984-1996.

Automotive purchases are usually emotional, not logical. If you just have the same bland flavor for a decade, sales will fall and resale remains high. If you have a sharp revitalized product, people tend to upgrade. Look at the raging success of the last 2 gens of the Corvette.

No one wants to buy a new truck that looks virtually the same as 10 year old used trucks and pay 10-20k more to do it. No bling in that game.
