Yes , same key , the one on the left is the key I've used for the last 6 years , the one on the right was the spare that was in a drawer since I bought my truck . I think I found the problem I was having with a sticky / stiff ignition , lol

Probably, they are at a surplus store. Best place to get pelican cases. All the foam is gone on the inside.

Edit- ended up getting a 50 cal steel box for the back of the truck-tired of fighting with the cubby doors.

 

I was getting a little of that with my driver's door lock; took the fob thing (never carried it before and only got one with truck) from my wife and started using it instead. Haven't noticed it with my ignition, yet; maybe I should just trade keys with her before it shows up there. She rarely drives my truck.

 

I just did the same with my wife's key last week. Although I've noticed that as it gets colder it gets more problematic. Even with the newer key. I'm going to throw some wd40 in it tomorrow and see if that helps.

 

I use white lithium grease for that kind of thing (locks/hinges/slides--Winter lube) versus WD40; picked up the habit when we moved here 13 yrs ago--can't remember exactly why the white lithium over WD40.

EDIT: and silicon spray for rubber seals.
