Exactly. Only Tacoma nerds like us will honestly be able to tell the difference between a TRD Pro and a TRD Sport with a Pro grille and wheels.

    It's a P.T. Barnum industry thing.

    Anyone remember the:

    - new Hemi Challenger release $45k MSRP = $80k stealership / was supposed to be a numbered 500 unit release, then turned into 2200+ units

    - the new Shelby Cobra - same dealer mark-ups and rip-offs

    - there was also a Corvette C4 fiasco in the 1990's

    Same old, same old ....

One thing I have learned in sales is never spend someone else's money before they do. Let them decide if it's worth it.

What's wrong with the TRD sport? The only difference is the e-locker, but I would like an 8.4" differential with an ARB locker heck of a lot more than a 8.0" with e-locker.

46k for a Taco?! That's ridiculus, you could get a full size truck for that.

You could either get a fully loaded full size, or a diesel with some nice options.

Hmmm... I think you could build a TRD Pro with the extra $ :D

All kidding aside. Tacoma's are hardly a necessity good and the market will determine the price. Obviously there is an appetite at this price point or it wouldn't sell. Not everyone is a DIY mechanic or has an interest in becoming one.

I highly doubt that anyone on here would spend $233,000 for a Bugatti watch. But I bet someone thought it was worth it...

I'd never pay even close to sticker, glad I'm not the only one.

Yup. What toyota needs to do is a new fuel efficient engine, 6-8 spd trans, nicer interior, and diesel option. For these pro prices, you can get a fully loaded full size. Even though a lot of these full sizes fully loaded have a 40k plus sticker, you also have to think about how much "domestics" have in rebates. 6-10k can be done, possibly more if there is a body style change. Toyota doesn't want to budge that much unless you are really aggressive and they need to clear inventory.

No skids, no elocker, possibly no atrac. I originally looked at a sport, wanted the locker, skids for extra protection. There is one or two more features the OR has over the sport, but I can't recall.
