They look pretty sharp to me. If you like em, go for it, its your truck!

Backspacing will affect how far they stick out. Depending on what (width) tire you're wanting to run, you probably want around 4 or 4.5" of backspacing.

I'm keeping my 265/70/16's as the tires on have a couple of thousand miles on them.

Those wheels have the option of choosing different offset numbers, so it depends on which option you go with. The closer to 0 offset or negative offset, the further the wheel will stick out. The factory trd wheels are in the + mm (positive) offset. The less offset, the further they stick out (deep dish look wheel).

Looks like I'm going to have to do some calling/searching cause I can't find on that site where to choose the offset

Disregard the 32 mm offset for the trd wheel. That's for 05+ tacomas. I'm not sure what the exact offset is for 1st gen, but the same principle applies.

So its offset I need to worry about, rather than the backspacing?

That site doesn't give the option when you choose 1st gen years apparently. When I first looked at it I put in a 2nd gen year and it had options.

For 1st gen it doesn't look like it gives any info on offset or backspace.

Offset and backspace go hand in hand. What makes the difference is the width of the wheel. An 8" wheel with 0 offset will have about 4.5" backspace. If it's a 9" wheel with 0 offset, then it will have about 5" backspace.

I would figure out your current wheel specs and go from there. 32mm is close to 1.25". Just to give an idea.

Just to try and make it a little more clear, just in case there is any confusion. I'm not sure of the wheel specs on 1st gens, but just gonna use these numbers as an example.

Let's just say your wheels are +10 mm offset, and you want your new wheels to stick out about 1.25".

Assuming the width is the same on the new wheels. Since 32 mm is about 1.25", then subtract 32 mm from your wheels of +10 mm. That would give you a number of -22 mm offset. So you would look for something close to that.

    Again, just an example.
