    FlowMaster 40 duals out the back, T-Rex grill, Color matched TRD Nerf bars, Icon coilovers set at 2'', 2.75" OME Dakars spring packs, OME Nitro-Charger extended rear shocks, Carrier bearing drop kit, Wheeler's Extended break Lines, Total Chaos UCAs, Mojave Teflons and 31 1/2" Toyo Open Country A/Ts, Pioneer single din unit, Yakima roof rack, Malone roof basket with X2 KC 130w long range Slimmlights mounted to it, Garmin 255w nav, Fire bottle mod, Air Force standard First Aid kit mod, Hidden Muchette mod (don't ask), and 1 huge OCD about my truck.
    I just found this online and as of yet is the best explination for my prob. If anyone else is experiancing this, here you go
    "Thank you for your detailed reples. You have just eliminated the transmission and brakes from the situation here then.
    Your problem is in the rear driveshaft.
    First you need to be sure all the grease fittings have been well lubed on the shaft, a dry shaft will cause this and get worse over time.
    I have dealt with this on several toyota and Lexus vehicles in the last few years, it's much worse and more pronounced on the luxury line with automatic leveling suspension.
    What happens here is that when you brake for a stop it causes the truck to dip down in the front, ......this lifts the rear end up and extends the driveshaft so that the splines of the driveshaft extend outward in the slip yoke. When the truck comes to a full stop the rear end tries to settle and go back down, ......this does NOT happen because the weight of the turck is being suspended by a binding driveshaft, the splines hold position inside the slip yoke....then when you let off the brakesit unloads the rear driveshaft and allows it to rotate and force the splines back down into the slip yoke. If greasing/lubricating the shaft will not resolve this and it is a concern to you then a driveshaft replacement is the solution here. I hope that made sense......"

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Mostly what happens (with automatics) when you are stopping, power is still being sent to the axel. As the power is being sent, the pinion angle moves up, and when stopped, the brakes are holding it in that position. When the brakes are released, the axel is free to return to its original position, causeing a "Thump".

    I bought my '06 with 40,000 miles on it. It had very noticable driveline clunk on stopping/starting from a stop. I figured it had not seen the 30k maintenance, so I greased all five zerks in the driveline. Dry as a bone. No grease came out as I slipped grease in. This greasing of the u-joints totally eleviated the driveline clunk noise. Grease is good.

    Now to get to the plugs....

    I have an 09 Prerunner. I checked my u joints and I don't see any grease zerts. Should there be some?

    Hey!, thats what that annoying thump is.I'm glad to hear that. I'm going to lube my shaft!:D
    Toyota was supposed to be lubricating the drive shaft already. They must not be doing what they are supposed to be doing. I'll have to try that.

    Using even Mobil 1 on my grease zerks made no difference.

    I got the TSB, the clunk went away until the springs settled. It came back, so I installed an AAL. The clunk left and is still gone.

    AAL= Add a Leaf. This beefs up the rear suspension. Decreases axle wrap, thus less clunk. Greasing the zerks was the ticket for my '06.

    Prerunners don't have any zerks. The drive shaft is completely sealed for what ever reason. I hope you read this post before you go hunting for something that isn't there (like I did). Nearly drove me insane lying on my back, rolling around on my creeper for half a day! :D

    I was only able to find three on mine.None on the front shaft and three on the rear universal joints.:confused:

    You will have to rotate the shaft to expose them. They are not as easy to see as the rear ones. Just feel around and you will find them. They are there.

    I too added the Superior helper springs. It made a big difference in stability and traction.

    OK,I looked again I did find 2 more grease fittings on the front universal joints. They are in the center of the universal. The rear ones are on the end of the universal joints.

    Just enough difference to throw you off. Doing your own maintenance is always fun!! Greasing those zerks will help in many ways!!
