Been in 4x4 for about 4 months now and will not be taking it out anytime soon . According to the weather man , I can expect at least another 6 months of snow and ice.
Warm here today . Only minus 47 .
I drive over a frozen lake to get to work every day . No speed limits , No Law enforcement and no traffic lights . Ice ridges can get a little nasty :D.

An entire day if we get a snow storm. 2WD gets a little frustrating on snow.

Usually the main roads are clear the next day.

As long as you're not running it on a high traction surface (dry pavement) you're fine. Especially bad if you're turning on such a surface.

    Ice was crazy this morning.

OP. I remember a guy on here say he turned it on in the beginning of winter and didn't turn it off till spring. I forget where he lived, but it was a cold snowy area.

I drove this for a few miles the other day to go for a hike. Started to worry when I was going down the steeper hills that I'd never be able to climb back up. Fortunately, it was no problem.

I did use 4 LO going down the hills so I could just crawl. In some places, going off would be a big problem.

Don't forget tire pressure has a BIG affect on traction.

Maybe it would be cool if Toyota would make an AWD pickup?

Toyota's AWD system isn't great IMO. I think the ones who do that best are Audi and Subaru.

The "wait to slip then engage the rear wheels" philosophy is ridiculous. My last Subaru was a 45F:55R torque split that could vary up to 50:50 when necessary. Power is always going everywhere.
