required offset and backspacing on 3in lift

ordering new wheels and tires next week (just ordered my new ome 3inch coil and aal lift). want to find out what offset and backspacing i need. I know i need some offset due to the brake caliper. any help would be appreciated

 

you wont need any backspace or offset with stock tires, do you plan on getting larger tires? and the only things your going to rub on is the frame/wheel well/ and uca

 

let me add im looking at the moto metal 951s 17x9 with 12mm offset and 4.53 backspacing. will these rims accomodate 285 70 17s so there is no rubbing

 

with 9 inch rims you will have to cut the wheel well and possibly have to pinch weld the frame. I would suggest 17x8

 

Sorry, but that isnt true. Its all about the Offset that the wheels have. You want as close to 0 offset as possible. Im running 17x9's with 5"BS and 0 offset(Raceline wheels lists these to be 'toyota specific' wheels) and have a BUNCH of clearance with my 32's, so much in fact that im considering a 295/70/17 when I get new tires. The -12mm offset sticks the tire/wheel 1/2" farther out and can give some rubbing issues on the mudflaps, fender, and front body mount. The 0 offset is a bit better and will help the rubbing issue while still giving adequate clearance to the UCAs.

 

i was assuming that he was talking about a -12 offset and when I said frame I meant body mounts

There is no way I would even think about running 295/70/17 unless the cab mounts were cut. I currently have 285/70/17 on my 17x9 Enduro's which have 5" BS 0 offset and they do rub the cab mount when flexed. They require the front mud flaps to be removed and the fender trimmed... no way around it.

 

I have 17x9 Motometal with -12 offset. They will stick slightly outside fender. I had to remove mudflap. My tires are 265R70/17. I don't think I have any rubbing. If I did it over, I would definitely go with a positive offset. Stock offset is +30.

 

im trying to do this with little to no modification to the fenders... im trying to run close to a 33inch tire. any ideas?

The overall diameter of the wheel isnt really what matters. What does is the offset. Basically, you just want the wheel to stick out as little as possible to allow clearance between the tire and knuckle/UCA. As long as that has clearance, you should be good. Once again, a slightly positive to a 0 offset is best and a negative offset will usually stick the wheel out too far(unless its something like a 17x8 w/ -12 offset, which would stick out the same as a 17x9 with 0 offset). A little confusing, but you'll get it eventually. Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions you'd like help with.

Once again, wheel diameter doesnt matter at all. A 16x8 w/4.5" BS and 33's will fit just the same as a 17x9 with 5" BS with a comparable 33. What does is simply the offset of the chosen wheel, and to some extent, the width of the wheel.

ok relentless, i double checked and the 18" 4.5 BS and 10 offset....is a 18x8.5 not a 18x9 like i thought. so the extra .5" would help with rubbing issues??? looking at duratrac 275/65/r18 which says they are 11.8" wide or 275/70/18 and 11" even. I like the look of a bigger rim vs a lot of side wall....thanks for any help

 

+10 offset, or -10 offset? Im guessing +10 by the other dimensions? Also, it seems strange to me that the tires are both 275's(which is the width in millimeters) yet have a different advertised width.
