    you're probably fine without it, but with a heavy rear bumper/etc, i need beefy leaf springs.

    I have all pro expos right now that are 3-4 years old and sag pretty bad. I've been thinking I should replace them before moab and i've been thinking about trying dakar's since most of the NJDB's seem to have them.

    I've had the dakars for almost 4 years now (march 2011 installed them), and they were almost flat at ride height from the beginning. They still hold the weight pretty well with a bedrack/RTT/rear swingout with no issues and flex pretty well since they broken/broken in :D. I plan to switch to chevy 63s once these packs are finally shot.

    does the 63 mean 63" long? I've heard a lot of people talk about them but i've never seen a lot of info about them.


    i definitely need to increase my droop. I used the hi lift to jack up a slider and i'm able to get the rear tire off the ground pretty easily, and the top of the tire is a fair amount above the slider. I'm thinking because the leaves have flattened out i don't get as much droop as i should because the leaf pack isn't arcing as much as it should. :notsure:

    yep 63" long, there is alot of info on them on pirate4x4. Pretty simple to make your own spring hangers or just buy the conversion kit from ruff stuff. They hold the weight fairly well and flex for days since they're from a bigger truck. I would think if the leaves are flat they would flex even better. usually the super arched leaves are the ones with no down travel since they pretty much just sit at the arch they'd be at at full droop.

    For the most confortable ride and maximum suspension travel (both up and down), the leafs should ideally be flat or slightly arched, just like in the front with IFS you don't want to crank the lift all the way up or else the ride gets harsh. If the leaves have alot of arch, they won't have alot of downtravel and likewise if they are inverted (like many of the stock taco springs) you get barely any uptravel and are riding on the bumps.

    Another option at least for first gens is to use your main leaf and build a pack out of Chevy 3/4 tons or 1/2 tons from a junkyard.

    I just got the Dakars with no AAL - since Ant & I did the BL, cranked down the Coils and swapped back to the stock length shackles the truck rides like a caddy. :cool:
    I've also got a good amount of weight in the back with the cap/bumper/RTT.
    IMO it sits pretty darn good on this setup.

    No need to lift it to the moon if you don't have to right?

    Those mall curbs can get pretty brutal tho. :eek:

    Looking for info on 2nd gens on 63s I can't find anything. I'll definitely wait and let you do it first :p

    I think dakars are in my future.

    Your bed is usually pretty empty compared to mine so with that in mind I'll get the AAL.

    I will hold on to them for a little while.
    :goingcrazy: The scary part is he will only be a 5 minutes away from my house.

    I like the rake too but I alreay have some take with the Eibachs in the front and the TSB AAL in the rear. So I may install them and see how it goes and possibly add the AAL later.
