Well from the number of Posts you probably realize this - but it appears that they are "phasing in" depending on VIN buy tracking age and sold geographic locations - mainly because they just can't do all of these at once. Perhaps they will include yours in the near future? (I assume you plugged your vin in at the Toyota website to check ...)

They are currently doing the program based on where the vehicle is registered, not specifically by VIN.

I was 'told' by my service rep that toyota is eventually going to expand this program to include all affected Tacomas.. Whether or not this is BS I don't know.

From looking at my 3 page service write up for the frame replacement, they are replacing quite a bit, even the leafs, which I didn't think were covered. There's also some $800 thing called a frame wire on there, not really sure what that is.

Anyone know if they remove the CV axles from spindle hub or front diff when replacing the frame? My frame is gonna be changed.

Can't you take it to another dealer? If you need a new frame, you should get a new frame. The blue book on your vehicle shouldn't matter. They are the ones who have the janky frame issue. Tell toyota to shove it.

X 2 Get it fixed on their nickel and then sell it and get what you want. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid (Toyota).

I believe that they remove (replace?) the lower control arms. Therefore, I assume that they will pull the CV joints since they have to swap the Front DIFF and engine and tranny during the procedure.

LCAs are replaced. My CV boots look like crap, I'm hoping they rip them and toyota pays to replace them. If not, guess some epoxy glue.....

I went thru the same crap with my local dealer; wouldn't even give me the time of day or address my concerns.. They eventually looked at the frame after I blasted them on yelp, but now that the truck is eligible for the replacement, there's no way in hell it would be going there; I can most surely envision 'other' issues appearing after they were 'done'.

I took it to another dealer who has been most accommodating thus far.

I also agree with you that this will be the last toyota I buy. I've had better luck with full size trucks and the F-150 is the one this tacoma is getting traded for once the frame is swapped.

Definitely take it to another dealer. Email the service departments of several; that's how I found the one I am using.

I can't recommend an f150, my dad has the 2010 4.7 v8 with ~50,000 miles and its already doin weird things and having problems. Ford /Dodge= crap. Get a Chevy. Unless ford miraculously got better with the latest redesign

Also for info for others, my frame had no visible holes before the inspection, only a good deal of delamination near gas tank and near end of cab meets bed, passenger side. The dealer ended up "finding" a hole on driverside near cats I believe, they probably just hit it with a hammer.

has anyone had a lifted Tacoma's frame replaced yet?

If my frame gets to the point of replacement; I have bolt on frame sliders, Dakar leaf springs, Bilstein shocks, OME struts and springs up front.

I would remove the sliders before the consultation obviously but just curious if anyone has gone through the process with a modded truck.

I am also wondering this, I am waiting until I have an actual hole to take it in to get inspected.

I was a porter at the dealership I am taking my truck to for a few years while I was in college so I know the mechanic that will be doing the swap and I trust him. I am more worried about the cab mount being a little different and my 285's rubbing on the new frame, I am hoping someone else has had it done by the time I take mine in so I will know before hand and be able to prepare accordingly.

I am having my frame replaced at Falmouth Toyota here on Cape Cod. My truck is lifted with OME springs and an ARB bumper. They are not charging me anything to remove the bumper, but they did say that they might not be able to reuse my leaf springs. They usually just cut them off because the bolts running through the shackle freeze.(hope I used enough anti-seize because I don’t want stock leafs. I am thinking about having my clutch replaced too because I tow my 5000lb boat a lot and I have 190k mi. new clutch will cost me $800 or $1300 if they need to replace the flywheel.

Maybe next year if I need a frame, I'll have them put on the supercharger since the engine out anyways.

    Stock for now...
Some of these dealers need a hammer inspection done to them personally - maybe it will rattle some Customer Care into them . When I leave a dealership - the fear of GOD and MARINE have spoken , and they do indeed listen .
If mine has to be replaced , I'll sell this truck and source a nice FJ47 troop carrier , install a 12HT diesel w/5spd and laugh at 'em for the next 30yrs....

I just can't believe some of these stories on the dealer issues. No, I do not think anyone here is making this up - I just can't believe that the said dealers have stayed in business - never mind the fact that Toyota does, what appears to be, little to correct the situation up to and including removing their product / signs /dealer licenses from the dealership.

A Really good dealer with good service reps and mechanics DO know what's up with TSBs, Recalls and general processes. An OK dealer my not know but will listen and react to the customers inputs (especially when the customers walks in with TSB/KB/recall docs.).

And a really nasty (all I can think of for an appropriate adjective ) just ignores the issues, customers, customers inputs, etc.

    I wish Toyota would create an "incident" form that can report this crap. They should take this info and;
    1. investigate,
    2. Fix the problem and
    3. keep track of the nasty dealers that have ongoing issues and report back to the customer all of the above on a quarterly basis.

At least the customer can print out the form with Toyota's responses that you can wave in the faces of the "Nasty" dealer Managers and then Tell them "WTF! " and then leave never to return .... Toyota themselves need to ensure that current and future customers do no have to ask the internet "Anybody know a decent dealer near me ...."

    (Rant off)

Still waiting for my 05 frame
I had a 2000 that was bought back 3yrs ago. The dealer that I went to originally denied there was a recall. They took the truck in said there was no recall. I asked them to put it in writing on receipt which they did.
I went home call toyo corp, gave them truck vin. Corp said dealer was wrong and should have done inspection
I asked if I get in an accident as a result who is liable? Corp stated dealer was!
2 years later they call me back and take truck because of frame holes.

Some of the dealerships are a- holes.

You gotta tell us. has the dealer sent you "discount coupons" and trade in/new car deals regularly??
