Radio suddenly not recognizing USA Spec PA15

I've had my USA Spec PA15 hooked up in my truck for 3 years , always worked without issue

Yesterday I noticed the radio was on instead of the Ipod running when I started the truck , pushing the CD / AUX button did nothing , the Ipod is showing that it is charging and when I unplug it and plug it back in it defaults to the TOYOTA screen as it should so that tells me the physical connection is still fine

Any thoughts ?

anybody got any ideas beyond the obvious that the CD / AUX button may be Bjorked ?

 

Tried hard-booting the iPod? I've seen iPads and iPhones get whacked from the latest iOS updates.

I'll try that but I don't think it's the ipod as it defaults to the TOYOTA screen as it should when connected and shows to be charging and I haven't updated it in a year or so , just seems like the radio isn't recognizing something is attached to the CD / AUX port

 

Yup, makes sense. Cheap fix to try just in case.

 

Tried powering on / off the ipod , no change

Tried loading and playing a CD to force it to recognize the CD , CD worked no problem couldn't switch to AUX with the CD in or ejected

I'm now wondering if a DIP switch somehow has changed position , which may explain why it is charging but the radio won't recognize the ipod , I'll pull the console cover and have a look tomorrow or Tuesday

 

How do you do that on an old Ipod classic?

Hold the middle button and the lock button (at the same time) for 8 seconds.

The ipod recognizes that it is connected to the USA Spec because it defaults to the TOYOTA screen when it is connected and it shows it is charging , the problem seems to be that the radio is no longer seeing the USA Spec as being connected

Maybe unplug the unit and plug it back in? Connection could be loose?

 

Try a different ipod. Process of elimination...

 

Gotta pull the console to get at the box , take that on tomorrow
