Exactly. I like the MAID grips myself and no kit seems to come with them. THen ive been enjoying the Bad-Ass safeties. Then triggers I haven't used the mil-spec ones in a long, long time. So I hae ended up with a decent amount of extra parts ill probably never use and that are worth next to nothing

I see. I thought you were implying the parts were different somehow. I could see how assemble-by-color would help some folks.

 

Imo the parts are better than DPMS and Del-ton. While more expensive isn't always better, and will work just fine, an extra $20 is worth it to me because CMMG is quality, DPMS is under them and Del-ton is far lower. But there is also no reason to spend $100 on the Daniel Defense LPK because that's bonkers. Unless the parts are exceed milspec. $30 extra for the magpul trigger guard is dumb

 

As far as I know, there's no difference between LPKs for Del-Ton, DPMS or CMMG. None of them are making them, and they're sourcing from a handful of interchangeable sources. I'd be interested to see any information to the contrary.

I like that CMMG has differentiated itself by providing color coding, customized instruction videos and "gunbuilders" kits that have fewer parts, as others mentioned.

 

Another Del-ton vs. DPMS deja vu. I think I have read as many threads on this as, "What is the biggest tire I can fit?"

 

My first LPK I ever bought was Del-ton. I'll buy DPMS before I'll buy one ever again. I had a wobbly bolt catch that never caught the bolt and my hammer pin walked right out of my receiver.

 

Do not blame you a bit. Funny how many of us feel the same when there is a mechanical breakdown. 10 years ago my first and only Savage Arms bolt action .270 did much the same and now I wouldn't give 2 squirts of piss for a Savage.

Honestly, I think Del-ton and DPMS are a perfect niche market for a shooter that just shoots paper a few times a year or hunts.
They both have had their QC issues from carrier spec issues to gas ports.
It is a perpetual debate and I am sure there are many that have either that run like an oiled sewing machine. I once read someone say they are the Taurus of the AR market and I am no Taurus fan.

 

I will agree DPMS is way better now than they used to be. Their new GII series .308 lineup is actually pretty nice. However Del-Ton, meh. But that being said I'll probably spend my money on Del-Ton before I spend on bushmaster ever again since they aligned with freedom group which is also why remington has started sucking now, really lame. And that's why I like that the founders of bushmaster started windham and hired all the old workers back.

Amen on that one! I owned a Taurus 45 ACP revolver for 6 months a while back. UPS and Taurus was in possession of it more than I was those 6 months. Went back to the factory 3 times. Not a good thing to have a loaded revolver that you can't release the hammer on no matter how hard you pulled that trigger. I had to use my thumb to push off the hammer to make it fire, a little too dangerous IMO. The place I purchased it from normally NEVER takes anything back, all factory warranty period. Except he made an exception for me as I did all I could to resolve the issues and nothing worked. It did leave a bad taste for Taurus in my mouth. Kind of hard to get past that one.....

 

I have seen a few RK's at the range and shooters seem to be happy but, given the choice, I am a SW fan all day. Especially under 590.00 right now.

 

Yep, been down that road on 2 Judge's I bought(at once for my son and I), sight and trigger issues. I was always happy when I called Florida to check on the progress and spoke to someone whom spoke English.
