Sorry I'm digging this up, been away with a newborn.


I think the fact that 1 loss can potentially put you out of the running for the playoff makes it much harder to accept that loss. Now, this year that wasn't necessarily the case, but in recent years past that was exactly the case.


Side note: Will Notre Dame be forced into a conference to be playoff eligible? TCU and Baylor got snubbed, so I cant se how Notre Dame wouldn't, had they played well enough to be in the talks...

 

This is somewhat related. I just saw that ESPN anchor Stuart Scott passed away after his fight with cancer. He has been my favorite sportscaster for years. Sad to see.

 

Sad to hear about Stuart Scott. I really liked him early on. I ended up getting a bit tired of his shtick, and thought he became a bit of a caricature of himself as he went along...

BUT, he was a good guy, and seemed to positively influence those around him. Cancer is bullshit, and it sucks when it takes somebody so young. He was just 49.

 

I thought Kiffin was going to be a cancer for the Tide but he proved me wrong. He's a great offensive coach but a HORRIBLE head coach. Give the douchebag one assignment and that's it and he'll succeed. Give him more than that and he goes full retard.

I think Notre Dame should be forced into a conference entirely not just play several games in the ACC. It would be interesting to see TCU and the buckeyes play each other and settle the dispute once and for all. If there wasn't a playoff this year Alabama would be playing FSU for the title.

 

He did have a super hot girlfriend that went through it all with him. At least he had something keeping his morale up....

So, we're bringing Manny Diaz back to Starkville. Not entirely sure how I feel about the hire. He's already familiar with MSU and Mullen plus he knows how to recruit Mississippi and Louisiana. Our 2010 defense under him was pretty good and the 2014 La Tech defense was pretty good too. When he was in Austin he joined a sinking ship and was under Mack Brown's "leadership" with surprisingly less NFL talent than what he had at MSU in 2010. It'll be interesting to see what Diaz can do this next year.
