Not a built race truck. I doubt there are any races within 500 miles of me

Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
then what is the point of them building u a free long travel truck? you wont be in any events that show care their parts, unless ur planning on traveling for every race/event, u might get a discount to run a sticker or whatever if your extremely lucky. maybe even try a local fab shop, they could build u some parts maybe on the cheap...

That's the big question, and it can only be answered by you. You need to have something unique to bring to the table. There is no universal answer because, if there was, we'd all be sponsored.

Here's something to get you started:
    http://www.wikihow.com/Seek-Sponsorships

I traveled 3000+ miles, each way, for the races. Again, it was about increasing exposure for businesses in markets where they're not represented. Desert stuff isn't huge around here, and NJ companies don't show up in desert races. Didn't work out for me but it might for someone else.

Pretty much this. I'm a sponsored athlete, and it works the same...it's about what YOU can do in turn for them...

I've seen 2 successful Tacoma-related sponsorships recently. (over the past decade)

The first was Joe Bacal, who was sponsored by Toyota (technically Lexus), Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and Geiser Bros Racing. It worked out for him because he was a test driver for Toyota (thus they knew his capabilities), had undergone cancer treatment (thus the first-hand feel good story that would publicize CTCA), and had a proven track record as a capable driver so Geiser was ok having him behind the wheel of a truck they built.

The other was the Long Beach Racers, who have been successfully racing an older model Tacoma for years and managed to get Toyota corporate to work with them to promote the new Baja edition of the Tacoma when it came out. They have a winning track record and have successfully promoted their target sponsor's product for years so it was a logical sell.

If you can find the right angle it can work, but you need a lot of substance backing you up.

I hate to be "that guy"

    But...

If you're seeking sponsorship due to financial reasons, and without any prior racing experience, you can forget about it! Your expenditures leading up to a sponsorship deal will be 5x more than any savings you'll get from said sponsor(s). Trust me! (I've been down that road with one of my other hobbies) With that being said, build whatever you afford now and just enjoy your truck.

Why would a LT/desert race company want to market their products in a portion of the country where there are no deserts?
A LT/desert race truck in MS would be the equivalent to me having tits.. Useless.

Troof. There is a prerunner Chevy near me for sale and has been for sale forever. I love the look and wish we had stuff like that here. But. Nope.

Simply stated. These sponsorships are harder to get than I thought. I've seen other trucks that were almost completely sponsored an thought it would be a little easier to get free stuff. I guess that's my own stupidity there

I think clay croft was able to get some corporate backing, but he was offering a certain amount of video footage of the products being used in the expedition overland series.

If anyone here is on Instagram check out level_7_tacoma. I was under the impression he was able to due that build because it was all sponsored. Not the other way around.

I'm pretty sure that truck was all built (paid for) by the owner...granted he has all these people tagged but a lot of people do that just to give companies credit

He's said in some of his posts "thanks to my sponsors:" I would now assume he paid for that build and as a result got sponsored by all those comanies

Probably for like wheels and the vinyl wrap he has...
My friend has the same like 2-3 sponsors (a car detailing company and a wrapping company)
But he got them by putting money himself into the truck and paying to go to shows...gotta start somewhere
