There is no legitimate mechanical reason you can't run 16" wheels with the sport suspension. The factory TRD Sport and TRD OffRoad suspension components are the same except for the lockers and atrac that the OffRoad has, and Sport doesn't. The shocks, struts and springs are the same, and same geometry.

According to Toyota the Sport has Bilsteins that are more for on-road driving so there are some differences

as long as you match the same size their is no difference.

you might get a softer ride with the 16" as you will have a talller tire to absorb better.

Just a bunch of old crap
There is no mechanical reason you can't put 16" rims on a Sport. Suspension has nothing to do with it, just caliper size. But Sports have the same caliper size as the non-sports, so you're good to go. Lots of people on here have confirmed putting 16" rims on their Sports. I've never personally tried it on mine.

True. But plenty of dealers who are Internet savvy are putting them online for sale. Must have to do with new sales. Toyota/dealer contracts. Dunno.

Yea the Baja Pro wheels with OMF rings. I'm trying to find prices on conversions - I've read $200-250 per wheel (that's on top of the price of the wheel!)

I tried to roll the beadlock wheels into the purchase price when I got my 2012 TRD Sport but the dealer wouldn't do it, most won't but they sure as heck tried to sell me a warranty.

The Tacoma has its issues but don't be scared away. My stock 3 leaf pack did just fine until I removed it for a lift. I've lived on the gulf coast longer than I've had my '07 (5 years) and I've even driven directly on the beach, and I only have a few specs that are discolored but aren't even rusted yet. This truck isn't going anywhere and neither is its frame.

As for 16" wheels. There are some 16" wheels that won't fit over the calipers. You just need to verify fitment.
