Where'd you place them?

 

Mine are on the lower outside corner.

 

I prefer them on the lower inside corner

That looks good too! Nice and clean. I actually went around the other night looking for one of those but couldn't find any, so I just used what I had on hand. Only thing I bought was the hardware

I don't really use them for backing into the garage....but i used them to keep straight when backing in extremely close to that pilar on the previous page

For "adjustable" blind spot mirrors, Wal-Mart. Go to the RV section not the automotive section, $3 and some change.

I've read that the best place for them is lower outside because of the angle of the mirror and it being a little further from the truck, gives you a little wider angle of view.

But inside or outside is still better than having to look over your shoulder to change lanes.

I have had rear view cameras on me vehicles for years now and I still turn to look before backing up. Turning gives you a wide angle look of everything that's behind you so you get a better idea of what's actually there and once I get a big picture view I turn back and use the camera. To me, this is the same concept save for it happens at 80mph instead of 0.8mph so to me the fewer the distractions the better. I can turn my head to get a full picture of everything going on and there's a reason you get docked for not doing exactly that during our driving test. To me, it's an unsafe habit to get into because not every car you ever drive will have them. You can however turn your head to check in every car you ever drive. So I politely disagree that it's better than turning your head to check just like a rear view camera shouldn't completely replace checking what's behind you before starting to back up.

Good pic, but a little hard to understand the setup. Here is the detailed verbiage:

To adjust the outside mirrors this way, follow these two steps (This of course, is for vehicles with an inside mirror):
For the driver side mirror, roll up the window and press your head against the glass. Adjust the mirror so that you can just see the edge of the car.
For the passenger side mirror, place your head in the center of the car (directly behind the inside mirror mount) and adjust the outside mirror so that you can just see the edge of the car. This is necessary even with convex (curved) mirrors where the image is distorted a little.

While this works for regular driving, you may find it doesn't work for towing or offroad driving. This is why most trucks have power mirrors, so you can adjust on the fly.
