You are on the right track, I was only holding the mechanism up so you could see it working. The DC rear window is covered by at least 50mm of back seat across the entire window and I made the mechanism 25mm across, so when placed at the base of the window it's totally covered. I'm trying to work out a way to mount the motor into the window channel to hide it even more, but as it stands it can be glass mounted with no trouble. With the exception of the screw itself, everything is covered by the back of the seat and the printed bits. The screw is sort of covered, but if you sat in the back and let your hair go between the cab wall and the seat (not even sure how you would do that) it could get wrapped up. I'm still working on a solution for that, but I think it will be some schedule 40 1 inch PVC cut into a c channel and placed on top of the whole assembly.

Hey guys, FWIW, I'm planning on trying to get a powered slider kit on the market again. It will be a while before it comes together (aiming for late spring/early summer 2015), but I've started picking up where I left off.

    Stay tuned....

Well damn I'll still do mine and see how it goes. My regulator I found to use is 52 plus cost of other items so I'm in the area of you were with your last kit. I've hit some $$$ problems right now so I'm out until I can get some extra side cash to play with the idea

Great to hear BenWA! I haven't made any progress the last few days on my slider because it's been -20F outside and opening windows seems counter to not freezing to death :) I did find a metal motor coupling on Amazon for about the same price that shapeways wants to print a plastic one, so assuming that works out it will be a stronger component for the same money, it's on the way now. I hope Toyota is paying attention with the 2016s, being able to use that window is obviously a priority :)

With the old school crank windows I could roll up/down all 4 windows in the jeep fairly comfortably from the drivers seat in traffic. Power windows is a MUST with the double cab as it would be very difficult to operate anything but the drivers window with cranks.

The rear glass is a nice feature, but completely useless as is. My current solution is having my daughter open the rear sliding window. It only works part of the time and normally makes quite a bit of squeaking noises before it opens.

With a electrical powered window I'd think it would operate smoother while providing added security to the vehicle.

The weather has finally warmed up enough that I was able to attach the printed slider to the window! It's not nearly as noisy as this video makes it seem, but it is about 25 to 30 seconds to fully open or close the window. It's going to be a single touch open/close though, so I don't really mind. The whole thing is a 0 modification install. The window lock is kept open right now by a wad of paper, but I'll be printing a plug to slide into the lock to keep it open shortly.
You might notice the motor coupler is an aluminium piece now, the printed piece works just as well but I had this one available so I decided to use it.

Next steps are wiring stuff up to the cab and getting the arduino and end stops installed.

Side note, I'm printing some 110v outlets to go into the delete panel of the front dash if anyone is interested in one. They look like this only not as fuzzy and crappy. The plans will of course be on my github free for anyone to do with as they please, but I may have some extras to part with if anyone is interested.

Nice first effort...and without a doubt beyond my capabilities. However, speaking as a potential customer, it's gonna have to work about 5 times faster than that for me. Not a big deal waiting for it to open. But when I get somewhere and want to get out of my truck and lock up, I don't want to have to wait 30 seconds to close it. Similarly, if it starts to rain/snow and I want to close it now to keep the back passengers dry, 30 seconds will seem like an eternity.

Again, great effort...I'm still watching and waiting to see something I would buy.

Wow scratch just wow! Love it! I want to get this but waiting to see how the arduino and stops work out before I do though.

We're you able to test out the 1200 rpm motor for more speed?

    Amazing work though!!

Subbing for progress. That motor sounds really loud! This is moving up on my list. I was interested in one of Ben's hidden designs. We'll see who comes up with one that suits me first.
    The race is on!

Thanks, but just to be clear I don't plan on ever selling kits or anything like that. This is me doing my mod in the open, giving everyone access to the source files I'm creating and the BOM I'm using and putting it out there so anyone can create one on their own. This is me scratching an itch and doing it in such a way that if you have the same itch you can scratch yours too :D

It's actually not as loud as my phone is making it sound. It's not as quiet as a power window proper, but it's in between what my phone is making it sound like and a regular window.

I did test out the 1200 motor and it's open and close in about 12 seconds. It has a much longer spin down though, so the time between when current is cut to the motor and it actually stops moving the window amounts to about 3mm. Can be worked around for sure, but I choose to go with the 800. I'm trying to talk myself into ordering an 1800 rpm motor that I found that is the same form factor, I'll swap it out and post a video if I do.
