Apparently there's no laughing in Machman's house of pain....?

Gotcha. I kinda had you pegged for an AR-kinda guy anyway, but so is Puggles, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Gotcha. Thought that messing with the bolt was a funny way to rig a safety, but I figured it was just because 'in Soviet Russia, SAFETY sets YOU!'

I really like the old guns. I only recently got into ARs. I just got mine back from the gunsmith and will break her in this weekend (posted a pic in the AR BS thread).

As far as the safety, don't worry, the 20 lb trigger is safe enough!
    Wow, way overpriced!!

I suffer from the same weakness :anonymous:
I have a first-year production (4 digit serial # from 1919!!!) Savage 19NRA in the safe that I got for $100 from a guy who was thinning his collection and thought it was just another bolt-action 22. It's probably my favorite old gun to shoot.
My oldest gun (so far) is the Winchester '94 I mentioned a few days ago that was built in 1902.
I've also got a few old H&R Toppers ranging from the 50's through the late 70's in 410, 20, 16, and 12, and a late-60's Mossy 395KB with a poly choke that I use for turkey hunting.
Plus I'll soon be adding a Mosin to my collection, with any luck.
I also have this problem where I'm largely unwilling to sell anything from my collection, which drives the GF bonkers because at this rate I'll need another safe before too long, and I've already got 2 full-size units plus a smaller one for the bedstand. One, a Stack On 14 gun unit (which, by the way, barely fits the 8 or so that I've got in there) is stuffed to the gills with boomsticks and shotgun ammo, and the other one (a Winchester 24-gun unit) is chock full of rifles, pistols, and an assortment of ammo for both.
A vault is on my list of built-ins for when we do finally build a house :D

Ok, fair enough. I'll trade you a Mosin for your Imperialist Pig of a Savage Axis. :D

Even if you are a lefty bastard.

I'm only about $250 into it with the new stock and trigger. So for under $500, I have a rifle with a smooth trigger that shoots cheap ammo.

You going to scope yours at some point? I think I remember reading about the Archangel stocks having mount points for glass...

    Lol...
I just checked my email and I've got three separate shipments of ammunition currently in transit from different parts of the country. :anonymous:
I wonder how much you can order in a month before the men in black suits come visit you...

Eventually, I might throw a scope on it. The Archangel stock does have a scope mount that you can buy for it but it's stock-mounted so I'm not sure i would trust it to hold zero. Brass Stacker makes a mount that attaches over the rear sight so if I add a scope, I would either go that route or have a gunsmith knock out the old rear sight and attach a new mount to the dovetail the old sight was mounted to. As it sits though, I can hit paper at 100 yards with the iron sights and I don't have many opportunities to stretch out any further so I don't have much use for one yet. At some point I'll get one, but I have other plans first for some of my other guns.

I'm assuming yours has the standard globe front/notch rear sight setup?

Yep. The rear sight can be pressed off and there is a dovetail that it's attached to. Apparently, you can attach a standard mount to it.

Whilst we're borrowing from other threads, I saw this on the Firearms BS thread.

    What a moron.
"let me just take this out unneccesarily, wave it around like a jackass, then try to reholster it with my finger on the trigger."
    *BANG!*
"What the hell!? How did that happen?!"

    And he's a COP!
Who doesn't think twice about Brandishing a firearm, because he knows he won't get charged.
Wonder if they'll hit him with Reckless Conduct with a Firearm, since it's on video. Probably not.
