Great feedback, thanks. I had another shot that I posted in the beer thread of the whole bottle and the background was blurred but not enough for my liking as a shallow DOF. Oh well, next time!
Congrats, Cody! I really liked that one, too.

Congrats Cody and agree with everyone else, awesome shot! And thanks for the feedback David.

This is a dangerous place- now big22 has me yearning for a custom fly rod which I need about as much as another shotgun. Hmmm.....

    Congrats Cody!!

    "
Liz - Is that wood burning/etching? I would want to move the camera back or the focus plane up to get all of the etching in focus and move the background items back to put them out of focus. The Mason jars would look awesome all blurred out with a nice bokeh forming around where the light was sparkling off the glass."

I didn't want to clean those jars again haha, but yes it is a wood burning. I'm using the mason jars and attaching them to the wood with clamps, so they can hang on a wall. I was rushing the shot, left the camera in the truck.. In the cold so I was battling the lenses fogging up. Foul on my part. Thank you for the advice!!

I didn't get to do what I wanted to this challenge but for those who haven't heard of it check out the Brenizer Method.

It's basically taking a shallow DOF shot and locking your AF and then shooting all around that subject and stitching it together as one giant, super shallow DOF, panorama.

Pretty awesome. I'm going to try it out here as soon as I have a willing model to go out in the cold. Ha

Nice! I've been wanting to try my hand at that process. My cousin has been playing around with it... Pretty cool effect

    sweeeeeeeeeeet, thanks guys!
    Everyone's shots were awesome too!

(My bad on being late; apparently I unsubbed without noticing)
I was trying really hard to get the eye drawn to that single snowflake but in a way that it didn't really look like the subject of the shot; but in my attempted artsiness it ended up on the edge of the area in focus and a teeny bit blurred (and this was the best of the bunch)

the more I looked at that one though, the more I like the shot. Thanks for picking it!

    New challenge!

Wood grain as the subject. No other restrictions. Must show wood grain as subject.

    Go!

No fence post is right! I dug through the safe, I don't really have anything pretty.

This one was tough. This was the best shot I could come up with. I know woods not the main subject, but the best I could do with what I got.
