Plenty of people running the 63 chevies... Just do it, best bang for your buck.

Yeah, everyone wants that much here basically, but I just jew them down... Well it's going to need alot of TLC and I'm about 3 hours away and IDK man, probably new seals and bearings and shit... They usually come down. I offered 3 different people $700 and one guy is like hell no, then 5 minutes later he's like well what if I throw in a couple parts and such will you come higher?

    No. :p

14b are cheap for sure, and well the 92 is basically the weakest ford 60 they make, so no wonder it was basically free :luvya:

the only weak part about it is the balljoints and im not worried about my 1/4 ton truck with a small V6 breaking them.

I've seen even the strongest axles break on 22r, it's not a matter of them breaking as much as wearing out as they are smaller, and people not following the maintenance so they can pull out of the joint or... break. But, nonetheless good ball joints should fix that with proper maintenance of course!

    :woot:

Also, what size shackle will you be running? I believe you need to be careful with the chevy 63s as they are really 64" long, don't let that ruin your measurement or this will happen..

I'm planning on a 5" shackle, and it sounds like measure twice weld once is in order.

Think i mentioned already but I setup mine with a 5" but I'm changing to 6" shackle. Basically set it up so shackle is vertical at full droop but ended up with a little bit of a flat shackle angle at ride height as result. Doing the math, a 6" will put it at about 45' for my setup.

I welded...cut it off used measurements, welded it and realized it was useless so I cut it off and did it again lol

This is what I ended up with the third try. Only had to move it a half an inch to go from un drivable on the road to a good angle. I would maybe have preferred a bit more flat, but it holds weight well, rides well, flexes well, so im content. Maybe would actually have liked a 7" shackle for a bigger arc, but I dont want to make it any taller or redo it again

I saw your pics, the shackles looked pretty vertical at ride height, least what I though, but clearly it worked well!

I actually did that on my previous rebuild haha. I never even greased the ball joints for 2 years... Oops... lesson learned, this time I am going to keep better maintenance.

Being an auto tech for the last 10 years I've seen enough stuff die that I know all about the maintenance part if anything I over maintain my trucks. The taco gets a ams oil change every 3K and full synthetic fluids for everything else even the brakes. My cummins I don't treat as well but it still gets 3K oil changes and all the fluids in it are clean as well.

Funny fact the +4 mopar fluid in my dodge 4 speed and the Toyota lV fluid come are the same damn fluid.
