I've never fiddled with uppers, and just acquired a PSA pistol

I want to change some stuff out, but can't decide. It currently has a 10.5" barrel and A2 birdcage, crappy basic grip, and some quad rail. I'm thinking about dropping down to a shorter barrel with a new muzzle device, same quad rail and new grip. Problem is I don't know jack SHIT about how well various length barrels work, etc. I'd like to get down to where only a smidgen of the muzzle device is sticking out of the rail (for silly aesthetic reasons) and I def need a new grip

I guess a trip down to Palmetto tomorrow is on tap

If u decide to go shorter I have a 7.5" barrel and a kak flash can I would make you a deal on. I am repurposing an upper for a 9mm build. Less than 100 rnds through it.

I initially built a 7.5" SBR and reworked it to 11.5". I didn't know what I was doing initially, but once I started shooting a lot and looking into the characteristics of the 5.56/223 cartridge, I realized I was giving up a lot of performance in the little SBR vs. a 16" carbine, as in 500 or 600 fps in velocity. However, it will punch paper just fine and it's not like you're going to grab an AR pistol to charge the gates of hell with.

Yet another shameless plug for the 300 Blackout - I'm slinging 110 gr bullets out of an 8" barrel (different upper than above) at almost the same velocity I was pushing a 55 gr 223 out of a 7.5" barrel. Same velocity in the same length gun for a bullet that weighs over twice as much. Plus it's much, much nicer to shoot than that little 223. I always felt like I was doing damage to my sinus cavity when I was shooting that thing. You feel it in your face bones.

I just found a 10.5 upper for the same price as the 7.5 I was looking at. And I thought my mind was made up.

This is purely a play toy. As much as I'd like a suppressed sbr in 300blk...I'm not willing or wanting to drop the cash into another caliber

Let's be honest...AR pistols like you said aren't going to be the first, or even second gun you grab for anything legitimate

I'm still not even sure how aiming is supposed to work

Let's be honest. The AR is not even the first thing I would grab if someone was breaking into my house.

    2 reasons:
First, the cops are going to hold onto anything used in a self defense case. They'll give it back, but chances are you won't have it that night...or for the next couple of weeks. This is also why I'm not going to use an expensive gun in a self defense situation.

Second, you'll have a harder time proving self defense with an AR than you would with a shotgun or pistol.

I guess another one that I never really considered before...if they decide you weren't in the right, and the media gets ahold of it...you're going to make life harder for the rest of us.

In the eyes of the law so to speak, a rifle is not going to be easier or harder to prove self defense. It was either a good or bad shoot. No gray area based on design of gun, or color, or bullets used, or anything else like that. There is not a single documented case that anyone can show otherwise either. Until someone ACTUALLY presents case law, that argument is completely false.

Also, depending on your area, you could use a single shot shotgun and still be in the right and get crucified in the media. It is a risk that you have to take when you decide yours, or someone else's life is worth defending.

Those are just rail covers that LMT gives you. I dont like grabbing bare rails, I really like the feel of them, they kind of rattled a little bit at first until I slid them all the way to the stop and then really pushed on them, then they just clicked in and now are locked on there really tight.
Thats one of the things I really like about LMT's, a lot of thought and precision went into it, NOTHING moves. I'm picky like that, kind of like those annoying rattles in your truck that you spend hours trying to figure out.

It's one of the most solid, durable AR's I have had in my hand.

It's hard to say, but that looks like you have 2, or possibly 3 smidgens sticking out there.

It's not mine, I was just looking up the KAK can and saw this, remembered that Tiger said he wanted to do something like it IIRC.
