When I lived in Alabama that's what I did but smaller local owned gyms won't make it in a city this big. I liked the one's back home cause I knew everyone and we all helped each other whereas here I think I'm the only one who is consistent at showing up on the same days at the same times.

I know Vegas is a big place now, but there are some smaller decent gyms there. The wife has trained at some and sounded pretty alright.

 The gym I work at is locally owned and I love it...mostly because I'm second in command lol. There's also the bonus of not having to deal with corporate bullshit. I love the local atmosphere compared to the bigger places. Those places are just dudes walking around having pissing contests.

there's 2 Golds and 1 PF 10 min from me, but I decided to go to a smaller gym this time around...it has everything I need and is $9.95/month.

Before in Chicago I was paying $35 for a lot of "stuff" I never used...

I looked at the local YMCA, just figured it is in my community and does a lot of good work to. For $60 a month though..ugh. I can see why PF is popular in that at least the price points aren't terrible.

I do just that. I go to a smaller local family owned gym that has 2 locations.

I don't know nearly as much as you do about powerlifting, but I never liked the neutral grip....before I go any further, neutral grip is the same as double overhand, correct? I've always been able to lift more with a mixed grip....again though, you're warm-up is probably my max lol

Damn, that's cheap. Ours is 29.95 a month.

I'm all for small local, but (from my experience) they just don't maintain their shit. One squat rack, but 5 benches. Bar all rusty and bent. Old ass, mis-matching plates. Two overhead lights making you feel like you're in a cave. Filthy floors and locker rooms. Forget about finding bumper plates, and bars that actually still spin.

I go to the school gym now, and once that is over, I'll be seeking out a corporate place. I toured the gyms in the area, doing the free passes at all of them. All the private ones were the same. All the globo gyms were nice, clean, and had new equipment. I worked out at either anytime fitness or 24hour fitness a couple times over the break, and they had olympic bars in there .

Maybe you West Coast guys take better care of your stuff, but where I'm at it is a different story.

Happen to know any of the names? There are only 2 golds and that soon to open LVAC on my side of town (north side). Theres the base gym too but I like to go at 330am before work so it's not crowded and the base gym doesn't open until 6 and that's when I have to go to work.

I'm the same way. Plus it helps me to grip the bar better when going heavy.

Same here. Although, I'm one of the bitches who uses wristwraps on deadlifts, anyway....only when going heavy, though. I can understand not using them because you want a better grip, but when I'm trying to pull 405, I can't keep it in my hands very well...I guess that makes me a bitch haha.

I use the rubber grips from bigbackgrips.com when going real heavy. I hate doing 3-4 and putting the bar down to readjust my grip

Neutral grip is like a normal grip thumbs around the bar, false grip which i like more is the thumbless grip aka suicide grip, having to switch over really sucks because im so use to the false grip.
