Like a idiot i have snapped the bolt of in the engine block believe owner before me messed up the threads. Thankfully it is didn't snap of flush it has about problably 3/4inch sticking out. I was thinking grind top flat, center punch hole as good as i can, drill center out, tap left hand threads and use another bolt to remove. Or weld another nut to the bolt and try removing. It is stuck in there good. So far I have just sprayed a little penetrating lube sitting till have the time. Any thoughts good ideas?

I have had luck grinding a flat spot on opposite sides and clamping down with vise grips. Then using a piece of 1 inch steel tube, try and turn it out. I wil also use heat or a tap from a hammer to the top of the bolt if i can. Light preasure on the turning cause the idea is to break the bonds in the corosion. If there is room and the threads are still good, you could just throw on two nuts and work one against the other. That works some times.

If all that fails you can still drill it out or weld a nut on the end.

Start simple first. Lock it tight with a big pair of vice grips. I meen tight. Make sure you cant just unscrew it like that first. Soak it with PB blaster over tonight if it doesnt work. Try again in the morning.

Either use the vise grips or invest in one of these:

The Knipex 10 in alligators will bite down on anything and turn it. These things make the Irwin pliers look like shit. Well worth what you'll pay for them.

    Good luck.

I have solved this problem on several occations by welding a nut to the stud with a wire welder. Typically you weld the inside of the nut to the top of the stud. The welding also helps to lossen the stud. Then use an impact gun to remove it. I have had to reweld a nut three times to get a stud out of an outboard motor before.

I have a excellent selection of easy outs and left handed drill bit...but you might want to try a little heat then candle wax before trying to turn.

    candle wax? what for?
hopefully you get it out man. this is a good idea said above. out 2 nuts on the threads and use the inner one to turn the stud out. it will tighten against the other nut and will allow you to turn the actual stud.

Some of this Some of that
X2 on welding a nut to the end of the bolt , let's you use a wrench to work it out better. Perhaps some heat as well if it's safe

Get the broken bolt HOT and put candle wax on the bolt. Capillary action will move the wax down the hot bolt, break the rust and lubricate the threads. It is an easy thing to try before drilling.
