This is different from just subbing to a thread using thread tools, which I use often. I am attempting to accomplish something else. He posted the offer in the thread. I expect that he checks back, sees posts saying 'yep do it'. In addition everyone else following the thread sees that there is interest.

Easy there buddy, calm down.'ing a thread doesn't take it off topic. You raging out and creating your own "tampon-a-thon" does. Now let's go back to listening instead of talking.

Well when people quote my post and reply to it I am notified. So from that I noticed that there was obvious interest in that type of video, since a half dozen people rapid fire said "subd for this" or something to that effect. As opposed to people just subscribing to the thread, where there is no indication to me that people are interested.
    Make sense?

To bring this back on topic. I was running stock size Michelin LTX's for 1 winter and have ran 255/85 KM2's for the last 2 winters and have never had an issue with my ABS during the winter. On ice either my ABS works as intended and I have good stopping power, or it is too slick and the ABS just turns off and all 4 tires lock up and I ski along the ice and have to pump the brakes myself. That last event is usually when the roads are slick as slick gets.

There was 1 instance in the middle of summer on a clear paved road when I was on the stock size Michelins that I was coming up to a red light and hit the brakes and had nothing and just blazed through the red light, luckily no one was coming... The Taco was still pretty new to me then and it has never happened again so I don't really know what happened:notsure:

What do you mean the ABS " just turns off " ?

I voted, but this pool is likely to be skewed because not everyone who votes will have driven on icy roads nearly as much as others:

    1) A voter from Canada might drive on icy roads for a good part of the year, and a voter from Virgina might only drive on them for a couple days out of the year.

    2) One voter might have a 2014 or 2015 and been driving it for less than a year, giving the ABS issue very little time to happen. Another voter might have a 2005 and has been driving it for 10 years, giving the ABS issue a significant amount of time to happen.

A more accurate pool would only include voters from Canada or certain U.S. states who have driven their truck at least x number of miles or years.

I agree with this for sure. To add to your first point, it also makes a difference how experienced a driver is at dealing with ice and snow on roads. Being from Canada, I naturally have this type of driving condition as an annual thing, winter is a SOLID six months here. You get to know how your vehicle behaves for the conditions.
Before my taco I had a '98 subaru forester with great winter tires. Thing was fantastic in slippery stuff, totally planted. My taco is not as good, mostly because of the tires, but it just isn't as stable it seems.
Relating to what I said at first, I know the feeling of properly locking up and how my truck and car behave on our roads. I know the limits very well and from that I almost never have abs engage unless I'm testing the surface in which case I just press harder and harder into the brake pedal until it does engage. It still usually surprises me with how hard I can push before abs takes over, and even then it's very controllable.

Overall I think a lot of people misunderstand the main purpose of ABS systems. Stopping distance is secondary. The primary goal is to maintain control (steering) of the vehicle while still stopping it.

Acts like a vehicle that is not equipped with ABS would. Like my car (99 Hyundai Accent) for example. My Taco is the only vehicle I have owned that has ABS. My wife's car (08 Mazda 3) you can't even tell it has ABS it performs so well and my dad's pickup (97 GMC Sierra) is a bitch to drive on ice though... The ABS will put pressure back on the brake pedal, I assume, in an effort to reduce brake pressure to keep the wheels from locking up... Which results in you having no brakes ever on slick ice...

If the roads are slick and I use the brakes I either A) hear the ABS working (it's pretty loud) and I have great braking capability or B) you don't hear the ABS working and all 4 tires are locked up and I am skiing on the ice.

I have had a mix of the two which is how I can distinguish. Pretty sure it occurs when I move between spots with more or less traction, ie the ABS is functioning properly when it is not too slick and then I hit a spot where it is too slick and the ABS will just turn off and the brakes function like a vehicle not equipped with ABS; or vice-versa I go from locked up brakes on really slick spot to a sanded spot where the ABS starts functioning normally again.

I can also instigate this by how hard I am pushing the brake pedal in this situations. If I push harder I can get the wheels to lock up or ease up on it and the ABS will start firing again.

I can get mine to do this occasionally. More so at a slow speed. I think it has to do with the truck 'thinking' it's not moving. If all the tires stop, or lock up on the snow or ice at the same time, the computer simply thinks the truck isn't moving. Therefore not engaging the abs. Theres probably some other sensors that are involved, which is why it does it at slower speeds not sensing yaw or pitch.

Issues with stock size tires, been only two times in snow/ice conditions since new at tires 1 size bigger but so far no issues.

Stock rugged fails. Brand new truck 10mph or less. 100+ feet to stop and could not steer, it's not an abs problem, it's an ice problem, once you hit ice it's game over
