those coopers are pretty nice. One of the last independent tire companies in the US too. so you know they are made well.

 

Cooper is american owned but operates plants in the US and China, they won't own up to which of their tires are made in China but some of them are. They also sell tires under different names of which some have terrible reviews.

 

My dad does drag racing (well, used to...) and has the tools to properly sipe. So if they are that bad in siping, I may just go down there and do a bit more if I get them.

 

That makes sense, I wanted the Coopers bad in the beginning, loved the look. I wasn't a fan of the Duratracs look after some tread was gone but a lot of that was on bigger trucks. Once I saw them up close on a Tacoma I was sold.

 

I take it you dont like cooper tires?

 

I have no issues with Cooper other than the fact that they hide where their tires are made. They stamp them all Made in USA but they definitely make tires overseas that they sell in the USA.

No issues with their tires though, they make some nice stuff. (I don't think it's way better than any of the other brands, but it's not worse)

 

I think ill go with the goodyears too

Cooper also make Cepeks, Mickey Thompsons, and a handful of others.

Goodyear makes 8 brands.
Bridgestone makes 5.

So on so forth.

 

Aye, I know, just reading the other day that there have been some major issues with a couple of Coopers off brands: MasterCraft and Wild Country from Les Schwab.

They tried fucking me over on some tires years ago when I was visiting my parents in Oregon. My brother also worked for them, so I know they will take just about anyone to work there.

 

Yeah.. I grew up there and one bad incident pushed me to discount. Oh wow how I was fucked at LS over the years.

 

I just hate the arrogance that comes with their sales, they think their off brand shit is the best in the world.

 

My mom grew up with his kids in Prineville. She said that their family was horrible. Then again, you are the richest family in a small town... you pretty much do own the town.

FYI , my LT275/70/17 Hankook ATm's were made in China

 

The kids are a little out of control. It's a weird town, but if you grow up there you don't realize it until you leave.

My LS story: Hauling my personal trailer, got a flat. Went to LS to get a new one as I was in BFE and they were the only place in town. The "new" tire blew out in less than 60 miles.

I work for the Government and try not to spend taxpayer money on chinese shit as a personal rule. Had a flat tire in a gov rig, and LS was a couple blocks away so limped in for a replacement. Specifically asked for a tire "not made in china" several times. Dude says, yeah, I'll give you a tire that matches, made in the usa!. Two hours of waiting later, I go look and the tire says "made in china" right on the fucking sidewall. Never again man.

 

Aye, but they don't have a "Made in America" stamp. I don't really care where the tires are made I just feel like Cooper is being a bit shady with it all. Especially because one of the #1 reasons I see people cite as to why they are buying Cooper is because they are Made in the USA.
