I see they used electrical tape. Duct tape must be optional

Well I'm willing to bet a good portion on the site won't be getting limiteds, some will though. So what you're seeing is not what you're exactly getting.
Wait for the TRDs, bet you anything the mirrors won't be chrome, I already pointed out there's a different grille, and probably different wheels for other trim levels. And then a cool sticker slapped on the side

I think some of these are shopped. If you notice the back tire seems to cut off the rear of the fender flare. And why would they go back to standard side mirrors without the blinkers.. especially on a limited. and as stated before the crease in the door doesnt match up to the front of the bed. also the crease on the top of the fender looks like it should extend closer to the tail light. The most upsetting part of this truck to me besides the lack of a V8 is no rear window like the 4Runner and tundra

Hopefuuly it will fit a plate bumper. It will probably have to look like the tundra plate bumpers because the grill cuts into the bumper. And the tundra plate bumpers are ugly.

I know its parked on a angle but the tire looks like its closer to the camera than the rest of the truck. Maybe its just me though

That looks like a cargo light to me in the third brake light! I'm almost certain it is.

Also all you guys need to chill about the cab shape. Ford kept the same cab shape for the past 16 years. So what?

I think it's bloated and ugly, and looks like it's bowing more to the soccer dad crowd who want a truck than the previous iterations. Additionally, I think the front and rear end redesign looks chintzy and cheap (and this is on the Limited). The headlight design looks like something you'd see on eBay for $95, and while I like projectors making an appearance, I think they could have designed a nicer unit. The grill looks huge and really chintzy in appearance, the cab itself does look identical to the current body style, and the bed does look like a Raider. The tail lights are awful looking as well and the rear bumper design IMO reinforces the soccer dad appearance.

That said, I can understand people saying it's a 2.5 gen, because so far that's all it is. People on TW were touting that it was a ground up redesign and telling everybody repeatedly that Toyota will blow their minds and whatever else, and now the pudding is served and not a total redesign.

I see a truck that appeals to female drivers, which I assume is where things are headed (like many other platforms who've undergone severe changes over a decade). It's less a truck than any Tacoma so far.

I just hope it has better commercials than the colorado where its just some guy getting off work in a big city and driving the truck. Now that tells you the truck is a "soccer dads truck" :)

The thing I don't like is the tail lights. I'd he doing a black taillight mod to get rid of all the chrome on the side

I like it... now lets see those engine specs... oh, and it must be funny those criticizing the front lower air dam on the GMC and Chevy... the new Tacoma has one as well... can't wait to see the mpg figures

    You'll find out next week.

I'll say that it is basically the same level as the 4th gen to 5th gen 4Runner. The 4Runner carried over the frame (essentially), trans, diffs, axels, etc. It was not a 100% redesign. It got a new engine, new interior, and new body. This Tacoma appears to have a mostly new body with the pillars and roof being carryover. The interior will probably be a similar update to what the Tundra saw. Remember, it carried over the pillars and roof from the 2nd gen, but you are blind or a liar if you think the 2nd and 3rd gen interiors are the "same". The frame will have small changes to accommodate the new drivetrain which is what we saw in the mule. There will probably be small changes to improve ride, payload, etc in the frame as well. You won't immediately see them, but you should feel it.

Toyota is big on kaizen. That means continuously improving rather than shitcanning the whole thing and starting over. Would new sheet metal on the roof really make it a better truck? Or would it just steal R&D money from the rest of the truck? Maybe they sprung for higher dollar suspension to improve payload and ride (two things the Tacoma needs to improve) by saving money doing all the designing, tooling, logistics, and validation on the pillars and roof. Remember, the roof has to resist crush in crash testing, so it is very expensive to redesign.

I think it's gonna grow on us. I'm already liking it the more I get used to looking at it. What I do not like is the abrupt flow from the rear of the cab into the bed side. It might seem less abrupt depending on the color choice, with black being my color choice!

Most importantly is to see if they deliver the goods on the engine, 6-speed transmission and interior re-design!

There are a ton of companies around me that will replace a bad cell in a Prius for under 1K. The whole battery pack rarely fails, just one or two cells. It's even cheaper if you do it yourself (it's not very hard).

I agree. The new design is growing on me. What will make or break it will be what the TRD off road and Pro look like. The Limited trim of the current Tacoma looks out of place, so this Limited looking a little off isn't shocking.

Honestly, my biggest complaint is the 4Runner flares and the front air dam. The aftermarket can fix the flares and hopefully the airdam is easily removed.
