Not surprised about a difference in opinion, just surprised how quickly some people are already claiming they would never buy it solely based on looks. Just depends how important looks are to the individual person. I know people that wouldn't mind having a few features that my be "ugly" to have a dependable vehicle. It seems some people care only about how it looks and nothing else and that I find a bit surprising but to each is their own I guess.

Agreed. There's an extra two inches in there at least.

I will certainly trade dependability over looks any day. Truck does me no good in the shop. Another reason I laugh when I hear anyone say they're remotely considering buying a Colorado.

Agreed X2. Thanks for the side by side pic. I thought my eyes were going with everyone saying the cab is exactly the same. It's pretty obvious from your pic the '16 cab is longer. Especially the back doors. Maybe the same basic shape, but looks bigger to me. We'll know for sure once the dimensions are released.

The more I look at the new truck, the more I like it. Maybe not enough to get rid of my '13, that would probably depend on the mechanical / interior / tech upgrades and price / trade in value of my current truck.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion, but so many negative comments are comical.

i like the trucks looks a lot. if it has noticeably more power slightly increased mileage and a smoother 6-speed then i'll have one soon enough

Yeah because Tacoma is never in the shop or breaking

Our 07 Colorado has only not started once, and that was a freak incident with the I5 starter being on the induction side and a 5 hour non stop road trip starting from 40 degree rain and ending in single digit snow. Long story short the starter froze. Put a heater on it for a night and started up the next morning and off it went, not a hiccup since no matter what we towed or hauled (it has been a lot).

I am looking hard at a gen 2 Colorado but am also really interested in the 3rd Gen Taco. GM drive trains have been bullet proof for us for many decades (they are known for that), no reason to switch on that part (yes during those years the interior was crap but I don't care as long as I am not blowing axles, transmissions and engines) but have always been a Tacoma fan so will for sure consider.

Not liking this style much but style isn't my deciding factor, I don't care how "cool" it look, I just want it to function and get done what I want and how I want it done. Never understood buying something purely on aesthetics or being so loyal to not shop around even if quality of something falls over the years "cough cough tacoma".

Hope that lower valence is easier to remove than the Colorado. It is a good idea, little ugly but gives MPG when on and easy to remove and give clearance when off road. People who say it is ugly, would you rather then make the bumper lower? They have to improve MPG for government reasons and public sales...

This thing is ugly! So glad I used the "new model" tactic as an advantage in buying a 2nd gen last week. Dealership bit on that too easy. Really disappointed in Toyota with this design...Tundra and 4Runner look great tho.

LOL right.... every 4L60E and 4L80E i have been exposed to has been rebuilt and has had the torque converter replaced due to the lockup clutch cracking.

I'm in the same boat. From friends and word of mouth, I prefer to lean closer towards Tacoma but I will at least give the Colorado a look and a test drive. This is coming from someone that doesn't own a mid-size truck yet so I'd like to check everything out before making a final decision. I guess you could say I don’t have that strong loyalty yet. If anything, I’m loyal to Nissan based on the vehicles I’ve owned since high school but the Frontier isn’t really competitive right now IMO. I know there is a lot of back and forth between customers of Japanese and American manufactures but even though I'm not as confident in Colorado's reliability then the Tacoma's, I don't think all GM products are pure garbage. I'm just looking for something that has a comfortable driver’s seat, able to pull my jet ski, use for camping trips, biking, and other activities. I'm glad I'm waiting, 2016 looks to be a good yearas far as buying a mid-size truck goes.

I like it, with some better wheels and the stupid spoiler up front removed it will look good.

But the most important thing to me is what is the power/tranny situation. I can deal with a trucks looks if the power train is what I want and need.

And plenty of folks who like it but won't admit it because they just bought a Gen2..
