my flares were not the problem with rubbing. inner liner, cab mount, and small metal bits sticking out from the cab had to be removed for me. I think this model will have the same problem.

I like drum rears. They're fairly easy to work on, the shoes seem to last well, and stopping power is ok for the application. Rear brakes only account for 15-20% of your stopping power anyways so for me it's whatevs. They probably wouldn't be a deciding factor on buying the truck or not.

Your aftermarket hack example is irrelevant. Parking brake pulling on rear pads in an inherently bad design - when you engage it while the brakes are still hot, it will bake deposits on the disc - that's why it's never (at least I have not seen it) done in production cars.

I hate to say it, but my wifes Hyundai and my 3/4 Dodge have parking brakes and rear discs.

Your point about the flaw in the design is true, but it has become common to use rear discs are parking brakes.

Haha... all upset and uneducated about brakes...

...just stroll onto the lot of any Honda or Acura dealer... the civics, accords, and Acura sedans have rear disc brakes with emergency brakes built into their calipers... (I've owned a few of them as well)

Hyundai's, Dodges, Fords, GM's, Nissans... I've owned all of those and had rear discs with a parking brake...

    Really?

I guess my world's view is limited by my Subarus which have drum-in-disc parking brakes.

What?? They are a factory OEM Ford brake caliper...not a "hack job".

Yep, in another picture released today (take in the Mojave instead of in snow) you can clearly read the 60.

    So yeah, 30.5" as usual.

Maybe I'm thinking of my 2010 Silverado... it had rear drums.

Doesn't matter though... Chevy got rid of rear discs because they sincere issues with them on the 1999-2002'ish trucks... then switched to drums.

For my dad's sake hope the issues were fixed
