I don't think the doors are the same. Similar, not the same. There is a shadowline below the window (~ 2" from the rubber gasket) that the current truck doesn't appear to have. The character line running across the door also looks different. It is iphone 4 to iphone 5 different, but it is definitely not the same door skin. Why they didn't go "more different"? Your guess is as good as mine.

New engine, new transmission, and a new road feel. That makes it new enough to most people. Those who want something with a totally new cab can buy a Colorado. Wait, by that definition it's really a Gen 3 Equinox... Jks

    Agreed!

We also don't know that the cab isn't partially new. We can't see the stampings in these pictures. Until Toyota's press release we won't know either.

A FANBOY is someone who buys and touts their make/brand/model regardless of facts for shear love of the vehicle. Nothing wrong with that at all.

There is nothing wrong with buying a Tacoma. There is nothing wrong with liking the 2016. All I have said, is for the money Toyota demands, this truck is not going to get my dollars.

$30k++ is a lot of money to put out for a mid size truck. I understand that a lot of 20-30 year olds who grew up with JAPANESE vehicles their entire lives, this makes sense to get one. It is not a bad truck. I just don't think TOYOTA leads any longer. They have become GM. Just throw out product and expect it to sell based on loyalty and reputation.

People who shop all brands of vehicles will surely have more options going forward with the GM offerings. Nissan will surely be working on an update now also.

I just don't see the value any longer if you were waiting to buy NEW. The ONLY REAL value is resale but I think you pay that up front with higher sticker prices.

Maybe they will shock me and we will see some massive drive line break through, but after seeing the exterior, I am guessing they shorted that also. This looks like a quickie to me.

New interior? Whoopie! How hard is that to update?

I don't mind the front and rear. The middle of the truck just does not match the rest of the truck. Looks like a franken-truck. Oh well, I'll get over it.

That is your opinion, others have a different opinion. The best thing is both are right, thats why its called an opinion, you get to form it for yourself based on you

Better engines and better mpg are likely on the way too...

BTW Fanboy: Noun, a boy or man who is an extremely or overly enthusiastic fan of someone or something.

Most of us on here are fans of Tacoma's. That doesn't make us enthused. It makes us opinionated, but not fanboys ;). Right now I'm in the middle of a deal on a Colorado for my wife. Her truck, her choice, and I'll be honest I don't think the Colorado is a bland offering either.

We are curious to see what changes have been made and if there's significant improvement over our current trucks. You're being a pessimist who is only looking at one component (the cab shell) instead of the whole picture that we will all see on Tuesday, or earlier if stats are leaked.

It does look a lot more handsome in this pic. I do have some criticisms of it but I don't totally dislike it. It will grow on inevitably.

Back to waiting mode. I hope I drop off my chair with the engine choices that will totally redeem my pessimism.

Regardless I am heading to the BIG D on the 20th to see for myself.

You're probably too short-sighted to even see them once they're released...

The rear door looks larger when you put the two side by side, also the stamp line below the tacoma badge is different.

Probably right. The front edge of the bed is still going to get rust.

Exactly what I've been stating. Thank you for comprising both gens side by side in one pic.
Like I said you put a 16 and a 15 next to each other in person and you're gonna win over a lot of people.

It's easier to see when you face them the same way. I think we're getting at least two more inches in interior room...

Looks like the back door is a little longer for sure, which would be nice if it was actually roomier. One ding I have with my truck is that another 4" of rear seat space would be huge.

So, we're saying now that the cabs may in fact be different?
