The new cab is definitley longer and taller thats for sure...I love the looks of the new Tacoma except for a few features like the tailights.

Personally I don't LOVE it, but I definitely don't hate it either, and it is EXACTLY what I expected, nothing too crazy but different enough to call it a redesign. I do look forward to seeing the Sport and OR models, and what drive train they go with.

I have seen this so many times... People HATE change, especially the older generation, even when they say they they want it. Obviously not everyone is going to like the looks, it is impossible to please everyone and there are people at Toyota that get paid a lot of money to decide which one is the closest to what everyone will like.

There are so many replies saying it looks like this truck and that car, in the end it is a truck and there are only so many designs that can be a truck and not look like a Subaru Baja. The fact that it looks like a 4runner shouldn't be surprising to anyone as the 2nd gen had pretty much the exact same front end as the previous 4runner also.

Since they didn't bother to switch to 4 wheel disc, wonder if they kept the same shitty-ass brakes from 2nd gens?

It was an exaggeration. It's just funny to see the initial overreaction by everyone. To me it's hardly even much of a difference over the second gen in aesthetics. A facelift more than anything.

I think the problem is the huge build-up to this point. Years of complaining about how dated the 2nd gen is, then it's finally announced, everyone's primed for some huge reveal and then... yeah, it's a truck. Pretty much like you would expect. The grill is about the only cosmetic element that can be tweaked in a meaningful way so that's what you get. "hey, look at our new grill!"

Wake me up when the performance specs and other details come out.

What's funny is that someone actually expected a different reaction from the masses, it's either going to be overly positive or overly negative for 95% of the opinion. For people taking it too seriously, either is comical.

That is the whole point: it is clearly not a full redesign. Some of us were hoping Toyota would throw a little effort at this, and they didn't. After 10 years, it looks like they gave it yet another refresh, with (hopefully) new motors and a new interior.

It seems to show that Toyota, which once dominated this class, is not pushing to stay ahead. It is instead following along with derivative and outdated styling, which doesn't bode well for the frame redesign or any other part of the truck. That's a disappointment, to me at least.

Judging from the reaction from the "dislikers", you'd swear they were looking for a total re-design....like maybe it should look like a 2015 Corvette; only lifted!

People have been saying it'll be a total redesign since November, and poopooing on anybody who questions that, so it's expected. Knee jerk reactions are human, anyway.

Curious to see pricing and interior, but the exterior doesn't do it for me. My dad might end up with one when he replaces his Camry, but that won't be for a few years.

ryanjboutin....if they did a total re-design, then where would the Tacoma be? So many vehicles to this day have NOTHING that relates to what they once were....no lines of geneology. I mean, it would be nice if a Corvette actually had something in common with its original predecessor...okay...it's a two-seater. All the retro stuff is nice, like the Challenger and Mustang and Camaro...but the Tacoma isn't a car and it's more than likely going to sell better because it still looks similar to a Tacoma. If they "totally" re-designed it and it looked nothing - like even a Toyota, then people would still be unhappy.

It's just hard to explain, but I believe once the rest of the truck is exposed to us, then maybe we will understand more of what Toyota was trying to accomplish.

I actually sat here wondering how I would like the new Tacoma to look, and I would be afraid if I ventured far-off from what I have become familiar with...in what a Tacoma should be.

    JMHO......

If the buying public has proven one thing, it's that they'll buy a car by name regardless of what it looks like compared to previous models of said name. So I disagree, somewhat.

Half of my friends buy a car just on price and word of mouth. Most could care less what it looks like, as long as it runs. I envy people who just don't care about their cars/trucks.
