Square head hose clamp tail gate protector. Bed mat. Cargo divider. Shell. De-badged and de-stickered.
How will installing a shell on a new 4 door short bed effect mpg?

I have a DCLB, and have not seen any obviously measurable effects. If i lost anything, it was not a full MPG, and i cant find it in the normal variation of daily driving...

PS - you may want to search this board for similar threads; there is a ton of discussion on this already

I put an ARE MX series on my DCSB and highway MPG actually got a little bit better. If you do a lot of stop and go, you might notice a little bit of drop due to the extra weight but I do a lot of mixed driving and overall, I did better after I added the shell.

Some of the mfgs have done testing and claim you actually gain as much as 10% with a Tonneau or shell but from what real world research I've done it seems that you gain a tad due to aero effects and loss a tad with the weight so pretty much a break even. For mpg it appears you would do better with a Tonneau cover (like running with the tailgate down)....but all in all pretty much a non issue.

I haven't seen a loss or gain of mpg's...even if there was a loss, I wouldn't care because of the functionality.
