Maybe he was expecting a new truck because Toyota's own official picture says "ALL-NEW". But it has the same body, doors, glass and presumably frame/drivetrain as when first introduced back in 2004. But you own a late model Taco so I understand you defending it. But lets call it what it is, a 2.5 gen at best, and that is disappointing after 10+ years. When I see "ALL-NEW" I assume it really is all new, like the 2015 Colorado that was built from the ground up to be better in every way than the previous generation. The Tacoma is finally going to have a locking tailgate, a feature that a Tundra has had since 2001, and people are excited. Nice.

But those same people are complaining about how ugly it is when in reality it's a truck and the "redesign" has maintained it's same basic flow and shape from the 2nd gen. Modernized changes. A bit edgier. A bit meatier. Why change something when its not broken? It's the highest selling mid-sized truck for a reason.

What you're describing regarding a total re-design seemed to work pretty well for the 4runners. The 4th gen and 5th gen are miles apart, but people still buy plenty of 4runners.

I like the new Tacoma, but it could have pushed the design envelope more and if done well, would still be a great truck.

I'm just glad they finally fixed the wheel arches.... :)

I originally felt like this when I first saw the new Tacoma but it has definitely grown on me already and I think it looks better than last night. But there are a few things that are disappointing but not deal breaking. First on my list is no power rear window, again it's not a big deal but why not offer it? I know I would pay the extra whatever it cost to have it and I bet a lot of us would. The rear discs I don't really care about but from a looks standpoint it would've helped. And whoever green lighted those tail lights should get their damn eyes checked. Lastly, it was a super stretch but a V8 in this would cure everyone's problems with the looks (for those who don't like the look) and would have smashed any hope the Colorado had of stealing sales with a deisel.

Can you tell if it's drum or disc?

The side profile pic from Motor Trend is already my desktop wallpaper. I've called my "guy" at Autonation to tell him to put me on the list. He promises that when they start a list, I'll be #1.

Body is not the same glass is not the same doors are not the same Im not sure what your looking at, the cab is taller and longer. The engine will be different and the frame will not be the same. Its a new truck and I have no reason to defend it as Im not getting one just stating the facts, get your eyes checked
Just noticed why you are saying that its because your stuck with a 94 model year Toyota Truck...cool little pickups in my opinion
