Removing Bugs from Front Paint...

What is the best method - chemical - whatever, to remove bugs off the front of Tacoma's.

Back in the chrome bumper days a quick rub with a Brillo pad was it. Brillo pads on this paint is a no no.

i always dilute a lil simple green or some greased lightning,spray area and let sit for a few minutes, then scrub off with a good sponge with a scrubby side. usually works pretty well.

 

Take a LONG drive through a rain storm... that will clean them off

Otherwise I just use one of those sponge things and some elbow grease with lots of soap.

Hey Bill, use the search tool and type in "ask a detailer" to search on. Lots of good info. Try to clean the guts off soon as time makes it more difficult. You like chrome huh? Me too but it shows our age.

 

ok guys, you HAVE to try this!.....i use baking soda, its cheap, and no scrubbing required!....put some baking soda on a rag, wet the area with bugs on it...and there you have it...no bugs!....lemmie know how you like it!

 

Hydrogen Peroxide works good too....Put some in a spray bottle and let it soak a bit. The Peroxide works because the bugs are an organic matter just the same way it gets blood out of upholstery.

So if you have an unplanned incident that involves the dismay of a bug laden professional stress relieving common street walker...this stuff works.

...Also, if you are planning to take a trip, you can coat the bumper,grille, back of outside mirrors and anything else in the wind-stream (glass should not be included) with cooking spray. It makes clean up a breeze. Make sure to use the olive oil version if your visiting parts of Jersey and the North End of Boston.

 

Water, windshield washer fluid, bucket and a nylon scrub brush.

Use this on the ambulance all the time, works like a charm. For those extra stubborn bugs, spray with hot water (Sorry, we have a hot water heater hooked up to our hose) then scrub the bastards off.

 

wd-40... works on all kinds of things like getting stickers off of trucks, tar from mudflaps, etc.

 

I use Bounce fabric softener sheets for the dryer. Get it wet and wipe down the front of your ride. A little scrubbing helps on the hard dried out ones,then come back with a sponge and the guts come of with little effort. This works great on the Love Bugs here in Texas.

 

I like this stuff. It works well on sap to if you use it a couple of times. Also it was only like $3 at Target
