definitely is a 2nd, same frame, cab and a lot of the same bones such as suspension, brakes, etc. I think myself and others wouldn't call maybe a new engine and transmission with heavy reskin a new generation.

Funny how you can see all of the frame, entire brake system, all the suspension based on the pics that was shown. LOL

Look alittle hard dude and I urge you to look at the mule shots from August. Rear drums are shown on the newest pics same as current gen. The cab is clear as day same as current gen. Leaf springs still there, oh wait yep. And the frame sure as hell from what I see below the cab and location of spare mount, etc and thus the same cab would indicate oh wait yes the same frame. Any little bit of effort looking at the pictures and you would see this. But hey think what you want. Its a change but its not a new generation.

Here's a hint, when from one model year to the next year the entire factory service manual becomes useless then it is a new generation. So yeah, if it proves to have a new drivetrain then new generation. Even if on the outside you think it is just a "reskin". I mean it is a truck, you want them to add wings or something?

If on Monday they say "Gotcha, we just changed the sheet metal because our marketing thought it'd be fun to eff over the press covering the auto industry just for giggles" then yeah it is a 2nd. All indications are new drivetrain though.

I am surprised that no one has noticed the Sunroof on the pickuptrucks.com picture.

Arb front bumper, warn winch, All Pro rear bumper, OME up front, OME and All Pro Standard in Back, ARB locker, 34 x 10.5 KO2's, 17" Level 8 Trackers, and fancy single piece driveshaft.
    - The front edge of the bed is now level with the side rails.
    - The little black dots on the rear bumper are parking sensors, so apparently the limited will have them.
    - An online article I saw said it has an all new frame. (That hopefully doesn't rust)

I think the big news will be in the engines. Toyota has been developing Atkinson cycle engines for non-hybrid use, and I think the Tacoma will get one or two of them. These specs are from the 2015 Lexus NX200t, which weighs about the same as a Tacoma. They are copied from Motor Trend.

"Even though the output of the NX200t’s engine is competitive with that of the 2.0-liter, four-hole turbos in the Audi Q5 and BMW X1 and X3, a big throttle stab won’t exactly push you back in your seat. Where the turbo four really excels is in part-throttle tip-in at low-to-medium engine speed; it starts generating its maximum 258 lb-ft of torque at a mere 1650 rpm and tackles uphill grades at 2000 rpm without working up a sweat."

HP from that engine is about 235. Hwy mileage is about 30. I think that engine might replace the 2.7L four, and perhaps we'll get a larger version to replace the 6.

It's the dash from the newer smaller Toyota vehicles like the corollas..

Well I can tell it's the same frame. I doubt they would change it when there's no need...just like ford does. Same ford frame and body on the last 2 generations of f-150s and the superduty have some small modifications on the frame and same body still

LOL ok man. Brakes is more then just seeing rear drums. You don't know size of the front rotor or if they changed brake system like the ABS for Icy condition which I know many TW 2nd gen members have already mention. Thus you can't say the brake is the same.

Again, same thing with suspension. There is more to the suspension then just the rear leafs. You can't see what changes to the front suspension is. Is it the same double wishbone suspension or did they switched to a variation of the MacPherson strut. Thus you can't say the suspension is the same.

I like how some of you guys say the interior is the same and the seats too. LOL Jumping the gun again.

Like I have said before, you guys haven't seen really "anything" just a lot of gossip and dramatic claims and just like others, you'll believe what you want to believe. Just pointing the facts not gossip.

One thing I noticed in the release video is that it sounded like the exhaust had a deeper growl to it.

No it sounded meaner than the TRD exhaust. It sounded like a new engine.

The exhaust was rerouted and I'm guessing the engine will either be a 4.0 with dual vvti or a something along the same displacement with vvti and direct injection.

Would it be too late to ask Toyota for a 4.6L V8 shoehorn into the Tacoma? That would be a purrty sound :D

I just realized that looking at it, but I really hope it is the dual vvti 4.0. It is one sweet engine and is definitely more powerful than the current engine.

I'd be happy with either Dual VVTI 4.0L or 3.5L as long as it has a little bit more torque to play with
