So I tried an early crossing of a beaver pond up in ME and ended up in about 4 feet of water. So before I took on too much water the truck was running as we worked on winching out. I am sure the intake was still above the water as well as the CPU. However the truck shut off on it's own and the emergency flashers came on. After many hours of recovery (with out starting it) and hauling it back to my shop, everything has dried out. I drained everything checked that no water came in intake. When I turn the key it goes through the normal sequence of lights and turns over, but I am not getting fuel at the engine. I removed fuel line and nothing pumping from tank nor is the inline valve at the engine opening to allow fuel. So my question is there some sort of feature that sense when your in deep water that shuts down the fuel system or is the CPU just trashed? I plugged in the code reader but I'm just getting an error message no codes.

The fact that the hazards came on leads me to think you tripped a sensor. I don't know if the taco;s have a fuel cut for roll over protection, I know they do for air bag deployment. I know a lot of cars with roll over protection have a "Reset" in the trunk for that but I have never seen anything like that for the taco so I don't know if it exist. The actions lead me to think you have either triggered or shorted a sensor, I would expect a code though, maybe its not readable via scan tool, might have to be mfg pulled.

Yes checked all the fuses as well as drained all fluids in the truck. I am thinking some sort of sensor but can't find anything on it yet

I'm sure you have a voltmeter? check for power and ground at the fuel pump...

What he said! My buddy had a Ford Ranger that did the same thing...there was a switch behind the passenger's kick panel that was tripped and it was actually a gas shut off switch that killed the electric fuel pump. Not sure how you would find out if the Tacos have one, but it sounds like the same issue they had.

There are no sensors to detect the vehicle in high water, there is also no roll over fuel cut like fords, that is controlled by the srs ecu. Without ecm receiving a NE (crank) signal you will not have voltage to the fuel pump giving you 0 fuel pressure. If I had to guess what is wrong with your truck starting with the cheapest option would be crank sensor or harness. not sure what you are using to try and get codes but if I get an error with techstream there is a bad fuse or ecm is fried.

Thanks Ryan, I am leaning to ECM. I reviewed the video during recovery and noticed that at different times lights when on and off flashers went on and off all while these switches were in off position. Probably just going to replace the ECM and see what happens.
