I would say it depends on the severity of this rattle. First if it is loud enough to actually gives safety concerns park it. Second they have tried to find the rattle. Now you may need to find it for them. I understand this may not be to your liking, but it would solve a lot of problems and frustration. Lastly you will need to be very patient and courteous otherwise you will come out the loser. If you have already blown it, (let them know of your frustration) you should look for another dealer. I hope you get the problem solved. ;)

This is what I would do too. I bought a new Astro van in 89. The A/C didn't seem right. I took it to the dealer I bought if from 2 or 3 x still no fix. Took it to another dealer further away and they found it and fixed it right the first time.

I am no fan of car dealership service depts. That said, not all are created equal.

In my area, there are 6 Toyota dealerships. 99% of the time I do my own work; only use dealer for warranty and TSBs. For that type of work, only one of the dealers in my area has proven to be consistently reliable.

As pointed out already, you might want to find another dealership in your area if one exists.

Sounds like you've run into the classic bad attitude situation.

I googled -> "Tacoma rattle front suspension"

What I found in numerous posts on various web site was -> brake pads fitting loosely in the caliper.

Here's a thread(not the only one) that discusses it:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/38797-found-source-annoying-front-end-rattle.html

And here's a relatively short youtube video on 2nd gen Tacoma brake pad replacement. The pads are attached somewhat differently on our 2nd gen trucks than other vehicles. The placement of the pads in my opinion lend themselves to rattling.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzgh_LVAIDE

Wouldn't hurt to check out the video and google what I posted above.

Maybe you can talk the dealer into reviewing your front pads. If they balk, then you may have to fix it yourself. I know that isn't right, but in my opinion this would be simple to check and fix. If this turns out to be the problem and you have to make the repair, take photos of your work and when done mail to the GM at this dealership showing all you had to go thru to get the problem solved. It may not do any good, but you never know.
