Definitely a big pike being grabbed by what appears to be an attractive double-breasted mattress thrasher. A rare, yet beautiful bird. This one is covered up in winter plumage and therefore hard to see. Better examples can be found in the warmer climates.

    Winter Sucks for sure.

I'm with jethro.. I rather have extreme cold than extreme heat. I can't go to work with no shirt on and a bathing suit but I can wear as many layers as needed.. I would miss bikini season though.

I agree with those that say it is easier to get warm and harder to get cool. In the heat, you can remove all clothing, be out of direct sun and still be boiling. Sure you can go inside to an air conditioned environment, but we end up paying huge electric bills just to be cool. Oh yeah, and then rolling blackouts because literally every household is running their ac's to the max just to be comfortable.

    Hmm let's see.
110 is 12 above body temperature.
Minus 20 is 118 below body temperature.
Won't even compare driving on hot pavement versus solid ice.

This, for the record, is a small pike and some tough Canadian mattress thrashers.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J8V8MLvK2g

EDIT: Also, not trying to derail the OP's post. I do think it strange that I open youtube and there are girls with a pike fishing in the cold not so long after and I read and comment on this post. :spy:
    Sorry OP. Carry on....

And those of us not in So. CA pay huge heating bills. I'd take San Diego over VT any day.

I'm not built for cold. I can tolerate it as necessary, but not for extended time, like months. I like blistering dry heat of the desert. How people live in the snow during the winter is phenomenon. My winters are harsh, Wednesday it was 79F.
