I disagree considering it's one of the Tacoma most popular trim level.

What's funny is... nothing was released about the truck, just some random pictures not even defining the trim level

...everybody is just making assumptions. Period

That is still going to be a niche product. It is going to be super expensive since it is a 5.0L V8 diesel and not that efficient (efficient for the capability, but not 26mpg highway efficient). Maybe 22mpg highway rating. It won't be a small displacement, slow, efficient diesel like the Ram's Ecodiesel (which is also a substantial cost up over the Pentastar that performs the same but trades off a little bit worse fuel economy).

I know Toyota would love to be in the mix with the Detroit 3 as far as the Tundra, but I think they feel that 150k is their max volume. They are a pretty pragmatic company. That is a far cry from the 200k that they had capacity for when the 2nd gen Tundra arrived.

The look of it is growing on me, but I don't think this is a 3rd Generation Tacoma. It looks like a Gen 2 with some new sheet metal. I'd call it a Gen 2.5.

It will probably have some updated engine / trans options and heck maybe even rear disk brakes (Hello, 1970 just called - they want their drum brakes back.)

I'm not saying this is good or bad, so don't go all fanboi on me here.
I love my Taco, and would buy this new truck in a heartbeat if I needed one. However, I would not sell my 2007 with 60k miles on it just to upgrade.

Anything over a 50% redesign can be called a Gen 3. This isn't a refresh.

Damn me and my love for black trucks! It's truly an internal war on what color to buy next. That looks good.

LOL I'm sorry but this is the most contradicting statement I've read in this thread of 50+ pages.
So uhhh it's redesigned then right?

I think some of you expected some sort of spaceship or something :notsure:

But seriously, yes, it's very similar. But guess what, the gen 2 looks beautiful and I wouldn't want to go very far from it either. I like the redesign and we will not know until Monday if it's the same at all. However I do expect just some other motor they have and not a new one. Tacoma doesn't get new motors.
