Free Community College

Havent heard much about the national debt lately it was a major topic a year or so ago now the media never mentions it

 

Until the debt ceiling needs to be raised again

 

Doesnt matter print more money.

 

yep, ..that's because the U.S. debt has doubled, quite precisely, over the last 6 years...

 

I can't afford any more free and affordable things from him!

 

Personally I would think that spending money educating your own people would be a better investment than propping up other counrties while at the same time blowing parts of them up. The money is there for a lot of social programs even at the current tax rate, but the guts to shrink down the blowy up parts of the government isn't.

My whole adult life we have been pissing money into a sandy hole on the other side of the world and have nothing to show for it. Spending a small percent of that money to have education might not be a bad investment into not making the same mistakes again and again.

 

This is small potatoes. Honestly I'm not worried at all about the cost of sending my girl to community college. To offer it up for free is nice, but not really a big deal. I am however terrified of what it will cost me to send her on to a 4 yr university thereafter. That's where someone needs to start 'fixing' something.

Who said we have to be happy?

 

What happens when the student cannot maintain the standards of the program? Or if a student gets halfway through a program and the college is dropped from the government funding for one reason or another?

 

What happens when a student gets halfway through and the program gets sequestered?

 

there are alot of programs that shoudnt have been allowed to happen.....like free homes to those who dont want to work or free cell phone to those that are to lazy to work. I know in new orleans a ton of people were on welfare and lived in housing that was paid for but drove luxury cars. why give some one free school if they dont work towards it and try to accomplish something?

 

...sure are a bunch of "free stuff" paradises in central and south america, ..all free rides come to an end, ..but the tyranny lingers...

What about reward for work program? Like join the military and they pay for school. Oh, wait we do that already I guess that doesn't work anymore.

Bullshit. More free things for more generations that continue to feel entitled to stuff. I worked 2 jobs putting myself through community college and joined the air force to pay for the rest. I still owe student loans, is Uncle Sam going to reimburse me for those first 2 years too? Just ridiculous, if people want it bad enough they will work hard to get it. If the government ran on a surplus and we were moving in the right direction economically then sure but the money has to come from somewhere, that means the taxpayers and well the people who still work and still pay taxes (thats me too).
