Fun night here, had our first cold snap in the past 36 hours and been fighting fires ever sense then. Plenty of busted water lines, frozen air lines & valves not working......come on summer time!!

 

Nothing like a serious cold snap down south to royally screw shtuff up. Hang in there Chris.

 

I always read through the nights posts Ill go ahead and introduce myself. Im a respiratory therapist in a small hospital in Colorado I work 6p to 6a three or four nights a week. I have a couple daughters and an awesome wife. I got a tacoma in august and have just started messing with it. We spend a lot of time in Utah every spring and fall pulling out adventure trailer around in the middle of nowhere. Currently Im working on upgrading the electrical system, Im baffled by all the cup holders and the lack of outlets in our trucks.

Cold here to in Montreal airport,keeping our Westjet Boeings warm,tonight not so bad but last night was the coldest this year -24 c + wind chill...

Looks a little frosty. Do ya'll run heaters into the intakes and critical hydraulic areas to preheat before starting up the aircraft? C5s are a major deal here during Winter ops; they really don't like the cold.

 

Came in on shift the other night, just in time to hold a steam heated water hose on our acid tank/lines because it was 30 degrees outside and it had all frozen lol

 

Mummbled something about being to cold outside, and was inside warming up.

Welcome I also work 3rd shift at a hospital in maintenance. How does your Taco like the cold?

Hiya. Going to get some zzzz! Not working tonight

 

Evening,(morning?) all. 1st of 4 nights, then a week off. Stupid buisy since september of last year.

Been waiting for someone to open up this thread. Didn't want to be the first, didn't want to seem too needy

 

I feel like my tacoma takes a long time to warm up and once it does the heat kinda sucks.

 

Hah! Sleep well! First hit of caffeine down for the night, doing well! Should probably get up and do a round soon or I'll wake up at turnover lol

Same here! Wife left the house for the weekend as I'll be gone, so I can hang out most of the afternoon on my own hehe.

Pretty bored here, book just isn't holding my attention, figured I'd jump start this place a little

 

Well, if you're just letting it sit in the driveway, yea it takes a good solid 10+ minutes to warm up, I've found if I just start it as soon as I'm ready and hop on the highway, it warms up much faster! Gone are the days that you need to slow warm your engine lol. Just wasting gas sitting in the driveway.

Granted, if you're in 0 degree weather, by all means, warm that sucker up lol!

 

Well hello night crew.

Got shut down from putting some cargo on a KC10 because they have to carry max fuel for fighter refueling. It was only 5000 lbs ... plane's going to Hickam (Hawaii) ... crew probably has close to that in golf clubs and beer.

Oh well, I still get paid.

 

That's the fun part! We still get paid regardless if they need us or not! Boss man came in early to check in on our first shift and was like...it's the weekend, let's keep it quiet...hopefully I talk to you next week on day shift. Hahaha yessir!

 

I'd be finding a way to get on that plane!

 

This is true ... let it run while it defrosts/you scrape the windows, but then get rolling ... obviously the engine is going to warm up faster, thereby producing heat faster, at a slightly higher RPM than idle.

 

Coffee cups of course.
