I was excited about this truck *because* it's a Toyota truck. Others have made stupid-looking trucks and I don't really care. But I was in the market for a new truck this year, and I was really hoping Toyota would get this right. It's an important vehicle for them, from both a profit and a marketing perspective - and yet the design shows a total lack of effort or leadership.

Look, I don't think aesthetics are everything. I am curious what the mechanical changes are. But this is just embarrassingly poor design, and it's obvious from the comments here and elsewhere that I'm not the only one who thinks so. Toyota should be ashamed. This "all new" model brings to mind the cheap plastic tricks of Old GM.

If they get enough pushback, they might do an emergency refresh like Honda did when they screwed up the 2012 Civic.

I like it. I prefer the 12-15 front end, but I like the 2016 end over the 2005-2011, except for my 2011 with the beautiful honey comb grill:)

I'm sure I'll get shit on for saying this but I think new new canyon looks a hell of a lot better than this 16. I'll stick with my 09 until it dies, then I'll have to look at my options. The inside hopefully looks better than the outside, because imo the outside is fugly.

He has his right to an opinion, as we all do. If you don't like his thread don't reply. Sorry, some people hate it (rightfully so and Toyota did cop out with a lame excuse for a "all new tacoma"), and some people thing its the tits.

It's not all that bad, but I certainly wouldn't call it "all new" based on its looks. More like a face lift for 2015. Hope feature set makes up for the lack of "all new" looks.

Chrome does cheapen the look. Maybe there will be a color-key or blacked-out option. Pray.

Relax... wasn't meant to be taken so seriously.

Besides....a truck shouldn't be designed to win any beauty contests. Give it time... It'll grow on you. Everyone hated the 2nd gens when they first came out. Time will tell. When we get more info AND when folks actually buy them and get real experience.... How can we judge?

Agreed. If I were sure the Canyon would be reliable, I would buy it in a heartbeat. And would be happy that it has a fully boxed frame.

I like it, and I think the TRD Off-road will look even better. I doubt I'm going to rush out & trade-in my '14 as soon as the '16's are available, but when I'm ready, I'd definitely buy one(especially if drivetrain/mpg's are improved).

The only reason people don't think the bed matches the cab is because of the stupid useless short bed. I'm sure the normal 6' box looks better.

I do like the tailgate though; much like the Tundra. If it swaps to the "2nd gen" I could see myself trying to get one, though it'll probably be as long of a waiting game as finding someone who wants to swap their sport hood to my OR. In anycase, I think it looks more refined than my debadged and kinda empty looking tail.

I was thinking the same thing...and because of this I might consider the long bed.

But really was it necessary to make this thread just to put a couple of pics with meme text to it? Would it not have just been easier to put your "opinion" on one of the other threads?
Now you're just clumping crap up and making trash threads

I agree about the rust. It is inexcusable that an issue such as that has been allowed to go on so long with no guarantee that it's been fixed yet. But the original post dealt with the looks so that's what I was commenting on.

I think the grill kind of looks to big for the headlights. Something just seems out of proportion to me. Might just be me.
