I'm really diggin the exterior. Not sure how I feel about the taillight colors though...the altezza taillight trend is way over, not sure why they went with that style, unless they are intentionally waiting to deploy their 'better' taillight design 3-4 years afterwards the way they usually do.

Hope they don't cheapen or remove features from what we have. They only things I don't really care for are the inside door panels... Toyota should have done more. Otherwise, the dashboard and materials were still fine with me even it's a 10 year old appearance. They better not try using that stamped stitching crap like they did with the new rav4...my dad's Chrysler Lebaron had that shit and I knew it was shit even when I was 4 years old.

Who keeps saying there is a sunroof? There isn't a sunroof that is just a roofline they put on the top. Look at all the pics especially the one from the rear 3/4 view there is no sunroof, also from what I heard from someone that works at toyota there will be an 8 speed tranny or will be in the future.

OK I see it now I am dumb, as for who lied to me I don't think I was lied to seeing as its an engineer at the toyota plant here in WV. He said they brought in a new machine to assemble the new trannies.

I'm gonna be picking up a face lifted 2nd Gen 2012+ for sure, but I stick to my guns that I won't buy a first version of a new vehicle or generation. To many little issues I don't want to deal with.

After a couple days of examining the 2016 Tacoma exterior, I have to say it's a damn good-looking truck. Especially after seeing the 2016 Colorado / Canyon offerings again....yeah, I think the Tacoma has a much better off-road stance from my point of view.

That blower is dead in the water. It failed the high speed durability according to what I've read on T4R.org.

Dimming rearview is sweet, pairing with dimming sideview would be sweeter! I'd bet on rear discs, if I were a betting man (I'm not)! There better be more torque than HP and better fuel economy!

    The blower is dead.

Valve train wasn't the issue. Crank or rod bearings had slight scuffing. The only difference between the single VVT and the dual VVT head design is roller rockers and hydraulic lash adjusters. I'd be curious how they quantified "not built as strong". My understanding is that the short block is basically identical between the Taco 1GR and MY10+ 4Runner/FJ 1GR.

The probably changed bearing material with the changeover to support the move to 0W-20 (improved fuel economy) and that could be what he is referencing.

I've not had the 1GRs apart but I'm very familiar with 2GRs. The change from MZ to 2GR went to bearing material that wasn't quite as lenient (no lead content).
